The real news is that Uranus, Missouri is on historic Route 66. That is the historic highway that has run between Chicago and Los Angeles since motorway driving began in the US. Now we know where the the US has been ****ing the Midwest of the country in it's arse-end.

Uranus is also near a military (US army) base called Fort Leonard Wood. Could the less serious military relatives be playing a joke on the small tourist town.

To make sure it's clear. It's the mayor of the nearby town of Waynesville that objected to the name of the newspaper in Uranus. The start-up of the newspaper in Uranus is due to the closing by another company of the newspaper in Waynesville. It sounds like sour grapes on the part of the mayor of Waynesville because the regional newspaper is no longer in his town.

What is wrong with a newspaper being named after a planet in our solar system.

Back in the day, astronomers would call anything on Venus, Venerean, same as we'd say Martian or Mercurian etc.

They tend to say Venusian these days......
