Is this really an article or an advert?

It's an article. But i bet i can guess where the commissioning editor gets their hair cut.

Bet he was disappointed turning up at the salon after his Argus understudy had written a note, in usual Argus typo style, stating there was a free hairy cu*t on offer.

It looks like an advertorial - a paid-for advertisement run in the style of an editorial piece.

Not uncommon in publishing; it will probably look slightly different in the paper to the usual editorial pages.

It's a Press Release that the Argus have printed word for word, I would guess.

Yup, including the unbelievable grammatical mistakes and all round lack of any writing style.

I know local newspapers are in their death throes, and The Argus is deader than many, but my god this is about as poor as it's possible to get with the written word.

HB&B 'articles' aside, that is.
