Or they could give their season ticket to a trusted member of the family to use?

There is no need to inform the club or request a scheme to do this. There are probably thousands at each game who are using someone else's season ticket. A mate of mine who has a season ticket at Atsenal has people sitting near him, and who have been for years, who don't actually know ther person who pays the club for the season ticket, owing to private arrangements even more outrageous than the occasional bit of lending to a family member or trusted friend.

Issues arise when kid tickets are used by adults, or when someone lends their ticket to a nob who gets chucked out, in which case chickens come home to roost,

I may of course have all this completely wrong.

I think LI was implying that an elderly vulnerable fan with a concession ST could pass this on to a younger, less vulnerable, member of the family who would normally be paying a higher rate!

Whilst a gesture, not sure why the younger beneficiary shouldn't have to pay the difference between the concession ST price and the relevant ST price!

Easyjet are the airline who lead the way these days. I wonder if they’ll ever stir up long haul flights.

Buggers tried to sting me for £563 eighteen months ago though. They're up against the wall with Vodafone and the city council come the day of reckoning.

You read me right.

Allowing a nominated younger family member to take a seventy-plus relative's seat would not place a direct cost on the club and would be a pleasant gesture to loyal supporters affected by the situation. It was just a thought.

Mrs has booked us a trip to Rome flying with Sleazyjet. Its just taken her 2 hours 20 mins to get through to speak to someone. They won't refund the flights unless they cancel it.

Can't say I'm surprised.

Airbnb were perfectly happy to give a full refund on the accommodation.

Has she got travel insurance?

Virgin are no better than BA in any aspect these days, unless you want to travel with a hipster airline.

I haven’t flown Virgin for a couple of years now, I’ll take your word for it.

I agree about EasyJet though. A very good airline imho.

Has she got travel insurance?

And crucially one that doesn’t have a pandemic clause.

On a slightly related note I notice that match ticket insurance the Albion are peddling has a hastily added, and very specific, clause for contagious diseases.

And Finnair, who I love travelling with, have just sent this email to their customers. Part of it reads;

As we manage through these turbulent times, our unwavering commitment to customer service and your safety remain unchanged. We have introduced extra flexibility to our booking policies that allow you to change the travel date of most tickets booked by end of April 2020. You can change your travel date flexibly without a change fee and travel until 30 November, 2020. Details are available on finnair.com.

I think so. Would they pay out if the flight goes?

I think if you can make a case for why she can’t go then I believe so depending on the insurance you have.

I think it’s a giant game of chicken atm

Airlines telling people to go to insurance and the other way.

All change fees are being waived for bookings made between 03 March and 16 March

Travel flexibly with no change fees on new bookings
We’re removing the change fee on all new bookings made from Tuesday 3 March to Monday 16 March 2020.

So if you book knowing coronavirus is rampant they’ll let you change free of charge. If you booked months ago you will still be charged as per booking conditions.

To me this sounds like a very cynical way of getting more bookings, which will probably be non refundable whilst giving two fingers to anyone they already have money from

Thoughts?

Got a lot of product to move but the market is very slow? Makes perfect business sense.

Are you one of those people who expect a retailer to match a current special offer on a product you bought two weeks ago at full price?

The analogy is shit, given people’s valid worries about coronavirus.

Really was naive of me to expect BA to make allowances for those who want to change their bookings. Other airlines are starting to do this.

Of course BA want to encourage bookings, just make allowances for those who made them before this virus took hold as well.

Finnair and United as well as other airlines are now offering across the board changes free of charge for all bookings made before 31 March.

Still waiting for BA to sfop dragging their heals and do the right thing though. Their perfect business sense is not doing their image and customer satisfaction any good at all.
