We can clearly see where you are coming from and it isn't very pleasant!

I dont think you see anything, given the high number of recent arrivals the disparity is very small.

The Issue here is not to justify criminality it is to ask why ITV are not being prosicuted and/or wether the laws need tightening up.

Four pages and no-one has pointed out that Creative Access is a non-profit organisation set up solely to help BAME jobseekers: it's discriminatory in the same way that Scope is discriminatory to non-disabled people and Help the Aged is discriminatory against young people.

So why is its address on the website, listed as an office in the ITV building? Quite fishy.

Mainly you are using a false analogy argument. Its like complaining of the lack of women in Boardrroms, setting aside the fact many drop out to have families any correct measure would be from Equality in education, the same number of graduates. This would be about 20 years ago, therefor that graduate cohort would be 41 now, unlikely to be able to make a significant imapct on boardroooms for another 10 or 20 years. Unless you are arguing female superiority or promoting under experienced women which I doubt.

The same argument applies to BAME, those who came here had different expectations and have hardly had time for them or any children to work their way hrough the systemm so yes they are less able than native born British, you use the term white but as I lack your racist view I will use the term Native born, meaning culturally the same so any comparison is going to be pure garbage.

To be honest you are the one talking garbage! Many from the BAME community are 2nd and 3rd generation British Born and there is still a huge disparity in opportunity between the BAME community and the white British population. I find your comment "that I lack your racist view" quite frankly laughable when clearly that is not the case!

Everyone gets an equal opportunity in this country, it's up to individual to make the best of it. I think the job advertisement is a disgrace, because if that was the other way around there would be a bloody uproar, and rightly so. People should be employed on their experience and qualifications, the best person for the job.

Everyone does not get an equal opportunity in this country, that is the point. To claim that they do beggars belief. The right to apply for things does not equal equality.

At Creative Access we believe that the absence of diversity in the creative sector is not only bad for our society

And then they do not allow the diversity to spread to all skin colours..

"Many" may be born here but not the majority and not any significant number to effect the percentages.

hate this sort of stuff. Best person for the job gets it regardless of your ethnic origin.

This was my opinion, but sadly there is an incredible amount of unconscious bias in the workplace. This advert is specifically addressing a problem they have which is that they are underrepresented in those ethnicities in their workforce.

A not-for-profit social enterprise that specialises in finding work in the media sector rents some office space at a large media company, probably at a low rent.

About as much of a shock as finding a "friends of St Thomas' hospital" cafe at the front entrance of, erm, St Thomas' hospital. :dunce:

The role is for an intern on Peston on Sunday (ITV) - they're using Creative Access, because they champion the minorities to attempt to ensure diversity in the workplace. Rather than post this advert in the Express/Mail/Sun, where you would see exactly the type of responses NSC have been giving, they've decided to use a specified employment agency to help Peston on Sunday achieve the diversity they need.

Is it really too hard to work out?

Open your eyes people, diversity in the workplace is still a real problem for minorities in the UK.

Really? Are you assuming the jobs advertised are only available through Creative Access. As for your comment about football, were you not aware of the clamour for a type of Rooney's Law in the UK?

From my perspective, as someone who is currently a paid intern, I applaud everything about this.

The creative industries have a noticeable lack of diversity when it comes to race, and without initiatives like this it will never change.

They pay their interns, they want them to be involved in a high profile show interacting with higher level employees, and they are being up front about their hiring policy (something which actively combats the unconscious discrimination that occurs when people hire in their own image).

From my experience, getting an internship that is a) paid and b) more than completing a set of menial tasks, is something that should be celebrated! So well done ITV, a channel that is hardly renowned for putting a diverse set of faces on their screens, for attempting to tackle a problem in a positive manner.

Doesn't alter the fact that white unemployment rate is much less than the BAME unemployment rate and even now in this day and age if you are Black in this country you are more likely to be discriminated against!

indeed it does n't but creating more discrimination only fosters a right wing agenda address the problem directly find out why it happens and educate and where discrimination happens take legal action.

You can't address a lack of diversity by employing more white people.

But you can't address a lack of diversity by not including them.. Then the group itself is not fully diverse..

FWIW, I am for helping the minorities get the same opportunities as the majority, I just believe the principle of diversity should include all..

At a time when white, upper class MP's are using the phrase "****** in the woodpile" at public events I would say minorities could probably do with a bit of positive discrimination.
