Every day I happy clap the positives. Every time I read about the plight of a struggling club. Every time I remember standing in the rain on the windswept terraces of a northern outpost. Every time I recall the march to Mellor. Every time I remember being 1-0 down at Hereford that day. Every time I remember sitting in the pissing rain at Withdean.

It will take a lot more than a thumping defeat at a team destined for the Champions League, and then a bit more, for me to stop happy clapping my joy at the Albion we see now.

I think it's important to remember that, despite yesterday, this is the greatest era of this football club - we are in a great position - so much so that "mid-table mediocrity" in the Premier League is regarded as disappointing for us fans these days!

If missing matches and narrowly avoiding hospitalisations was classed as happy days, may I suggest you go down West Street before the Chelsea game, goad their fans, get chased, and miss the last transport to the match. You should suddenly feel a rejuvenating surge of contentment.

I don’t really care about league position as long as we can see progress on the pitch and say yep when this clicks we will be a force. I see us going backwards this season unfortunately.
