Is there actually any truth in the Glenn Murray speculation?

The fact that Murray cannot sign for anyone for longer than 93 days tells me he won't be moving during the window. Any club interested in signing him has got to be looking at the playoffs as a minimum and would be stupid to miss out on the possibility of using Murray in any potential playoff game.

I'll be pretty happy with the 32 (thirty two) year old that scored 30 goals in 42 games in the Championship 3 years ago.
This is my problem with the theory of a loan. He scored 30 in one season, but scored 44 in all competitions in 4 seasons at that lot up the road. So, for the other three seasons, he scored just 14 in total.
There are no guarantees he will score enough to ensure promotion with us.

How about Frazier Campbell for 28 days then GM as suggested?
That assumes that any potential suitors MUST be from the Championship. There might be clubs at the foot of the Prem who'd need a hand (Villa?) - though probably Bournemouth would refuse to help a direct rival.

There are no guarantees with anyone doing it. He is a proven goalscorer at this level so has to be a great option should he become available.

Just because we have sounded this out as an option, it doesn't mean it will happen.
It might just be the club ensuring we have a back up plan, should we either fail to secure a perminant target, or if that target should fail to settle quickly and start scoring.
You know what you get with Murray, and he won't take long to get into his stride.
It's prudent of the club to have this option, but it doesn't mean we won't get one of our main targets.

There is the theory from both Brighton & P*l*ce fans that he produces the goods when playing for a contract.

It was us who were not very good at keeping him here, rather than he who was desperate to leave.
I don't think he was desperate to go to palace - that's just how it worked out.
Despite his age, he has a proven record at this level - and higher.
To turn round and slightly alter a Monty Python quote, we could be saying come the end of the season "He's not Judas, he's the Messiah." Then again we might not, but que sera sera. I would be happy to see him back.
I also think the Norwegian lad we have just signed could be very promising. Apart from anything else, I believe he's 6'2" and can play as a striker.

I don't see Bournemouth lending him to a relegation rival and I don't think any club not in the bracket in the Prem would be interested in him. If Murray is available he will move to a Championship side imo.
A theory which does not stand up to scrutiny.

That's all well and good, but footballing history is littered with managers making statements about players not being for sale or not leaving, only for the total opposite to transpire only a short time later.

Or, played 114 league games and scored 44 goals, not a bad return considering it included the getting-up-to-speed games after rupturing his ac ligament against us in the play-off first leg.

He wasn't born in Brighton. He was a professional footballer who got offered a MUCH better contract at another club and took it.
The rumours that Poyet didn't want to keep him are absolute nonsense. The manager asked the board to offer a deal. From that point it is out the managers hands. He asked the board to keep the player and we didn't.
Poyet told BBC Sussex: "We have a limit and must work to those limits. If it's not enough, it's not enough.
"It's not like I can go out and make an offer like any other team, that is something we have explained and tried to sort out."
No animosity here. He is a footballer. If he will be an asset to our team then its fine by me.
