why such Venom for Coldplay ?. Also " your beautiful " by blunt is a superb song just done to death by the sheer amount of times it was played.

Coldplay aren't depressing as such. Just terribly, terribly dull.

There is a picture of Coldplay in the dictionary, alongside the word 'insipid'.

It is not so much their music that is depressing, as their ongoing success.

Because that twattwattwattwat that heads up that band is a whiney hypocritical tosser who has written two albums using the same f***ing song.

Honey - Bobby Goldsboro (1968)
The world's wordiest dead wife song, Honey is jammed full of blooming flowers, puffy clouds, singing robins, planted trees, and a puppy, all of which just make you want to swallow a hand grenade. The narrator mourns Honey, his deceased spouse, while condescendingly describing her as kinda dumb and kinda smart. If you feel inclined to listen to Honey, please drink heavily and then bale out after Honey dents the car. Otherwise, you'll get hit with angels carrying Honey away and clouds crying on flower beds. You won't make it out with your senses intact. It is that bad.

No, you were right, it is two. People think there was a third, but it was actually just the second one released again with a different cover and all the song titles changed. No-one noticed though.

err yes , this one is MUCH more depressing when Leonard Cohen sings it except it's also pretty good :)

If you don't believe me listen to this and you'll probably want to top yourself after 2 mins

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zqu3U05tkAw

Suzanne takes you down to
her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body
with your mind.

And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said "All men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them"
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
And you want to travel with him
And you want to travel blind
And you think maybe you'll trust him
For he's touched your perfect body
with his mind.

Now Suzanne takes your hand
And she leads you to the river
She is wearing rags and feathers
From Salvation Army counters
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look
Among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever
While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that you can trust her
For she's touched your perfect body
with her mind.

HURT by Johnny Cash. I do find most Robbie Williams songs deeply upsetting though, although not in the same way.

In fact is was nominated for a Brit award. The Observer Music Monthly noted how keenly it had been influenced by Brian Eno, ELO and Sparks shortly before it disappeared up it's own arse in a cloud of pompous dullardness.
