Or as the wife put it:-
"do you know where the Goldstone used to be".
For that she got a withering look, followed by a full 5 minutes of my best Joey Deacon impression.

Anyway I have an hour to kill Friday morning, so naturally my 1st (and only) thought was full english, mug of tea & a paper.

I'm not Hove Born & Breed, (luckily), so I will need fairly idiot proof directions.

Ta muchly

There's a great burger van behind Furniture Village just off Sackville Road in Sackville Trading Estate. Other than that I believe there is a greasy about 4 doors down from Hove Park Tavern.

Thanks guys, having now actually listened to where the wife will be leaving me, it turns out she's leaving the A27 at Majestic Wine. So I guess Boundary Road will be my best option.

Where is Scotties? my reference points for Boundary Road are train station, Tesco's (if it still is) and the Brighton and Hove Council/Child Services building.

Brighton Marina Village
Mum and Dad's, along Old Shoreham Rd, few doors from the Sackville...

Steak & kidney pudding, jam roly-poly & custard, mug of tea...

Short, jaunty, inexplicably cocky fan walk... that vast, neatly hand painted red and blue 'Next Home Match' poster, wooden rattles... good humoured, crackling expectancy... Eric Gill, Charlie Livesey, wafting linament, drifting pipe smoke (West Stand only). Haywards Heath Town Prize Silver Band... Sussex by the Sea...

[ Sigh ]

Cut down olive road, or through aldrington tunnel to take you out along portland rd. scotties is opposite the old Aldrington school, think now a playgroup. Smileys is next door, i personally pref that one. they are both on the south side of the road. hope that helps!

Good call. Best bacon sandwich and tea-in-polystyrene in the world.

If you want to surround yourself with Guardian readers why not try Ethel's.

...on Blatchington Road. I saw the most alternative middle class family I have ever seen in there......'Fergus, would you like some pear juice' said the mother to child.

try Wheelies in Victoria Road, Portslade, between Chandlers and Victoria Park

Alas although I once worked in the Portslade Tesco, I have no idea where anything else is, as I so proved, earlier, when I confused Boundary Road with Portland Road.

Portland Road is the one that runs parallel with the A27 and the coast road, isn't it?
