[Technology] Is the Nintendo Switch a worthwhile purchase?

Any recommendations on good family games As [MENTION=24884]Fignon's Ponytail[/MENTION] says we think ous will get plenty of use through the lockdown. Have Mario Cart which is great fun but most other games we have seem to be more single player.

My boy/girl twins have a birthday soon and and based on the positivity of this thread I think it might be time to commit. However, just some quick queries :

1. Have people found there is there any real advantages to subscribing to the Nintendo online membership?

2. I'm anticipating getting the digital copies of games and wondered what size micro SD card is the minimum to get?

Gone for the switch lite for 6 year olds birthday - cheaper and have Xbox S and PS5 so didn’t see the need for the pain switch. Loves the DS so hopefully this will be a hit.

1. Personally I'd recommend whichever membership it you need to get the SNES pack, which gives you most of the great games off that console (e.g. legitimately still great stuff like Super Mario World and Super Mario All Stars, as well as other games I can't tell you much about).

2. Mine's 100Gb, which I'd describe as "comfortable". Could manage with less if there's a big price step, can't imagine you'd need more.

3. Used to have the equivalent for the wii, not worth spending money on from a gameplay perspective.

4. Yes, they are significantly more comfortable.

5. For 7 year olds, Mario Kart. I should point out at this point that I'm basing that advice on my own childhood rather than my non-existent children. I remember my friend having Mario Kart 64 being the MOST EXCITING THING EVER at that age, but God knows what kids nowadays are into. I think it's good though.
On the basis that I played Ocarina of Time as an 8 year old I'd guess they're a year or so off it being worth getting Breath of the Wild for them, but you'd be better placed to judge that. It is great.
Other people on here will be better placed to recommend child/family specific games.

We have a Switch, kids ages are now 15, 14 and 7. We all have great fun playing it, it’s a great purchase for good old fashioned family fun! Just bought the Mario Golf game which has the older kids out of their rooms in minutes to try and beat their younger sister! Recommended!

you will defiantly want a second controller, "pro" one looks expensive, and i imagine siblings will wont same/similar. the PDP Rock Candy ones are decent, a tenner, nice size for little ones and big ones a like. lots of 2 player driving fun with Table Top Racing is a cheaper option than Mario Kart.
