Cottage Tandori is brilliant, you will not be disappointed

Still there - still Abdul. The place is timeless. A very good traditional curry. There is better and way more expensive ones out there.

Go there and enjoy an excellent curry. You won't be disapointed, but it's far from the best nowadays....

Heading for shore
It wasn't bad, bit dated inside.

You say that like it's a bad thing. One of the things I like about The Cottage is that it hasn't gone down the 'let's make this as bright and vacuous as possible like every other restaurant' road. Has anyone been in The Maharajah in Bramber since they ruined the decor? Great food as always, but made me want to weep.

I want my Indians dark, lots of intimate booths, strange pictures on the walls and piped sitars please. Oh, and proper hot towels at the end, not those scented arse wipes that go cold in instant.

It's not great, but good enough after a few beers. The Duke of Wellington opposite Frosts should have some good ales on and maybe live music. It's a Dark Star pub.

Ye olde one in Shoreham High Street is like an assault course for unwary drunks, what with low beams at forehead level and sudden unannounced drops in the floor level. Food and service is excellent mind

Yeah its good in there and Abdul is a legend!

I stopped going in for a few months because he had a really creepy waiter in there who used to stare at me and passed me his phone number one night when I was in there with my partner LOLOL.

Then the creepy guy started working at the local petrol station so I started having curries again but filling up with petrol somewhere else!!!!!

By coincidence, I got a take-away from the Cottage on Sat and was very dissappointing - nowhere near with it used to be like. I fancied a good Lamb Rogan Josh, which is supposed to be reasonably spicy, and quite rich and slow cooked, but in reality it was a few bits of tough lamb in a generic red sauce - not tasty at all and most was left uneaten. The cats normally go mad for the pashwari naans too, but they barely touched any. I know take-aways won't be as good as eaing in, but I won't be using there again methinks.

Well, the postponed meal took place on Saturday night, and I have to say I thought it was outstanding value and a very decent curried situation.
I asked to look at the £9.99 set menu, and this was it:

ANY starter
ANY main
ANY side dish
Pilau rice or a naan bread
(Fish or prawn dishes £2 extra)

So for £9.99 you've got the run of the entire main menu - the only caveat being you don't get a choice of rice, just pilau, which I have anyway. Unbelievable. My curry alone (chicken balti) was priced at £8.45, yet I got a shami kebab starters and onion bahjee side with it, all for £9.99.

So all 4 of us all had a starter, a main, a side dish with rice and some popadums. Drinkwise we had one bottle of house white wine, 2 pints of Kingfisher and a couple of cokes. The entire bill came to £61, so just over £15 each for that lot. And there was more than we could eat, ended up taking a load of it home. I dunno how they do it so cheap.

CurryTASTIC. We will be back.

I remember what it was that annoyed me about the place now. There was just too much on the menu. We all like a bit of choice, but they had hundreds of dishes. Took forever to look through and make a decision.

Surely thats all part of the PLEASURE through Edna. A leisurely peruse of the delights on offer in a gentle astmosphere of ambience with the ones you love, or quite like, or tolerate.

I did my usual trick of arriving starving, pigging out on the popadums and lime pickle, then leaving half my curry. I never learn.

Never.
