Well, clearly you become a professional football team by getting through to the first round proper of the FA Cup. It's one of the prizes!

What are you lot, stupid?

Just one thing 1066 Seagull. No matter what happens to Hastings, Crawley, Eastbourne, Lewes etc, there will only ever be ONE football team in Sussex. Understand?

Seconded, despite having lived in Crawley most of my life.

1066 - I agree with your sentiments, Eastbourne Borough do have an excellent chance of making it pro over the next few years and I really hope they do because I would be very proud to see my hometown team in the Football League.

A few points to consider though - particularly when posting on the topic on here:

Crawley are pro already, although it has not really gone that well for them and they parted company with their manager yesterday.

There are quite a few other teams in Sussex who can claim to have a chance of making it in to the Football League - Lewes, Horsham and Bognor could also do it with some investment/a couple of good seasons.

You have to be very careful when posting about non-league football on here. There is a massive Lewes propaganda campaign. For some reason a ramshackle ground with a cheap new stand which actually prevents you from seeing a quarter of the pitch counts which progress with our pagan cousins from the county town is seen as 'quaint'. They're very sore that we had a big day out in Stoke despite them beating us four times last season including some of the worst games of football seen in the county.

Having said that - there's only one team in Sussex and they should be getting permission for a new ground this week.

Eastbourne is going football mad as they are drawn to Oxford in the FA Cup 1st round proper. They narrowly missed getting into the Conference by loosing to some northern git.

Now Eastbourne is more local to me than Brighton and will need more fans to succeed, but what the f*** I'm a Seagull.

It would be nice though having a local team on our doorstep.

We wont have just Palace and Soton anymore.
can you not spell losing? ???

Have you seen the League table? Eastbourne have about as much chance of promotion this season as we do. Lewes on the other hand could well be in the play-offs come the end of the season.

I have spent sometime in the last few seasons watching the up and coming Sussex teams. I think out of all of them Eastbourne are the club most likely too (behind Crawley).

No disrespect to Lewes, but I can't help feeling the bubble will burst.

Eastbourne have been coming up slowly and very effectively from the Langley Sport days. They have a growing catchment area and a nice ground, which can be easily expanded.
