A vast number of fans still think that it is, and that we should be challenging at the other end of the table. That has caused to unrealistic expectations of the current team.

The way we play is so simple to break down on the counter attack it is frightening at times.

Maybe this will be totally exposed by a better team like Spurs this Wednesday.

Yes.

TB and Burke have allowed a League One squad to form, obviously not by design, but they lack the footballing ethos and savvy recruitment of say Derby and Bournemouth (both, no parachute monies, either). Under the Albion's management structure and with his late arrival, SH or any future head coach, have a tiny say in player recruitment.

In both of the last 2 HOME games, our opponents have been bigger, stronger, better athletes, not averse to passing, direct and today, with better fitness and stamina levels. JFC, COG and Baldock look like boys compared to men. Any coach would struggle with that background.

We have a sub standard Div 1 squad and expect to do well in The Championship, this will not happen with this squad to many players to out and bring in for which the top men must be held responsible.

Absolutely.

Combined with the fact that our attacking play is so unbelievably slow, given we seem to have to play the ball sideways 20 times before going anywhere, it also gives teams so much time to get 11 men behind the ball when defending against us. Hence Gary Gardner is tempted into his 40 yard efforts every 5 minutes.

The amount of times we were exposed because Calde or Bennett were out of position is frightening. It's all well and good them going forward, Bridge and Ward did so brilliantly, but they didn't leave us exposed at the back.

Unfortunately it's both - Bloom did not spend over the summer to replace Ulloa/Buckley etc but even with those constraints 21st is not good enough by Sami

M'boro's second goal last week was a great example. We were chasing just a 1-0 deficit in the c. 50th minute, and kamikaze like, threw almost everyone forward. They countered, something like 3 on 1, and guess what, made it 2-0. How naive by a collection of largely League One standard players.

What we're witnessing now is he result of a very long and very frustrating summer, Everything appeared to be geared up to getting the training ground/academy opened and the new sponsorship deals sorted and anything to do with the playing side come across as nothing more than an afterthought.

no. well maybe one. its not a bad squad, but it is lacking quality in a few places and most notably up front. the tactics are concdeing soft goals, but the attack isnt making up for the over adventurous forward play as its expected to. sacking Hyypia would probably help by ushering in a more defensive mind*, but wouldnt solve where the goals would come from.

*it is odd for a defender to be so gung ho, dont you think?

Firstly, Hyppia has been dealt a sh@t hand by Burkes dealings. That said, based on what I've seen to date, I don't think we can afford to wait until January to give him a chance of restructuring. We will be hopelessly adrift by then.
