[Albion] Is Potter 1 game away from being sacked?

I've questioned Potter a number of times, but if you look back on this thread I didn't call for his head. Merely pointed out the obvious that the tactics weren't suiting the players in that run of defeats.

This is why I'm quite encouraged by the squad this season. Although Cucurella is a big miss we've got in two players to cover him who look like they can play the GP way. We'll be a bit screwed if Welbeck has to miss some of our next games but I suspect Undav and Ferguson will at least be able to cover soon. Ostensibly we've lost our holding midfielder, the most expensive full back in the world and our top scorer. In reality Colwell and Van Hecke are stronger cover than Duffy (though perhaps not Burn) and Estupinan / Trossard to cover the left wing back should be good most of the time and our starting midfield looks better. GP's comments re Maupay suggest that their relationship was difficult and I understand why he's gone.

I think with Potter and brighton the last few years it has all been about development and trying things out. We've been blooding new players constantly, trying different formations and tactics, and not everything worked. He would always pursue an idea or a player for several games rather than giving up after one attempt - didn't always work, we can remember the run of three games playing a false 9 last autumn (Liverpool, Newcastle, Villa) although he brought it back later in the season at Spurs when it did. The winless stretches were part of that determination to try things and develop on the pitch. I wasn't surprised that he gave Mwepu another game on Saturday rather than just dropping him after Fulham.

The difference this season is that we're now more settled and very experienced. The Man U line up on opening day was 10 players that have been with us for a long time plus Caicedo, with experience running right through it - Dunk, Veltman, Gross, Lallana, March, Welbeck, Trossard are all PL veterans now. In six games our starting line ups have been from just 13 players with only Pervis new to the squad (forced by the unwanted sale of Cucu). This is what he has been working towards, this could be the season with Brighton where he shows what he's all about, quite possibly his valedictory season. Early days but so enjoyable.

Very much echoing this above. And we only see match days.

We play a brand of football that needs 8 or 9 out of our 10 outfield players to be on their game. We have 2 or 3 off such as at Fulham, while there is no fault in spirit or endeavour, we can get turned over - it is a risk we take with playing such positive progressive football. The flip side is, and I'm sure many of us were thinking would the players mindset recover on Sunday, and after conceding in the first minute, you might think in many sides belief ebbs away, but on the contrary, you wouldn't believe Tuesday's result even happened to this group as they tore through any shreds of recovery Leicester players felt in that first half.

Potters work on their mindset is amazing. To come back from the setback of an early goal was testament to that. To them be pegged back a second time but keep going showed huge strength. Then to be denied a goal by VAR but not let heads drop was fantastic, other times we haven't done it.

You'll never see Potter rant and rage or complain about the unfairness of it all. Potter would never do a press conference like Tucheks and Moyes recent efforts. He would never do anything but back his players, unlike Parker or Rodgers, and was harsh with his comments about the fans (IMHO justified) booing after Leeds. (I reckon he was pleased in a way we did, no sitting on our laurels just because little Brighton is top half). Have ambition but accept you have to suffer at times, and there are things out of our control, focus on what you can control. I have to laugh every time one of our players talk about suffering in post match interviews, he has drilled it into them.

A quick one about player sales do you think there will be a time when the top clubs stop paying for our stars? I believe to this day Bissouma is a Potter player he wasn’t that good until coached into the DM position. Cucurella looks half the player he was for us, BW they’ve had to move him into the RB position questionable after (carpet head) my mates nick named Artetta that asked his board for £50m for a CB. Caceido came straight in and did the business so he didn’t need coached as such so could probably slot into a top side. Some players excel under certain mangers.

I know Leicester have let players go over the years, but I also feel they've kept too many players by offering them big long contracts when actually selling them may well have been a better thing to do. Case in point I would say is James Maddison, probably on ridiculous money to keep him, could have sold him to Arsenal last summer for silly money and moved on. He looks like a player who thinks he's too good for the club he's at - from what I saw Sunday I would want him gone to be honest, his body language, effort and commitment were completely unprofessional and I'm not surprised he got a earful from some of his teammates.

This is the flip side of thinking you can just keep players who might want to move on and think you can keep a highly motivated happy group. We may have lost a couple of excellent players, and Bissouma does look a little lost at present, but if anything the group has kicked on. So far you've have to say very well played.

Has to be sacked if lose versus norwich. He’s lost the plot but the cracks have been there whole season by getting lucky in nearly every game.

However not his fault he’s been given nothing to spend.

I've no doubt GP will want better players, opportunities and more money, but If he bites at the first big offer today, he is jumping quite literally into the fire.

My gut feeling is it would take him time to tame super ego's, and that's if they respond to him . . . And if it doesn't work, quickly, Chelsea will get rid. It's a big risk for him, early in a career.
