Is Nick Grimshaw the most overrated person on TV/Radio?

Can't stand the bloke, I'd liked Moyles and stopped listening to Radio 1 as soon as he was replaced on the Breakfast show, Radio 2 all the way for me now.

I do like the spin the Radio 1 boss has tried to put on the drop in listening figures, praised Grimshaw for driving away the over 30's. What a ****.

Oh I see now - He has a morning show on the wireless.

It's just a shame that there's nothing on the radio (not including digital) that caters for the 30-50 group, at least not as far as I can tell.

I find Absolute Radio is decent enough, although if you want to listen to it on a normal radio it's on MW rather than FM so hardly ideal. The music certainly caters for the 30+ crowd though, you won't hear any nonsense like Rihanna or Jay-Z. My only irritation is the "comedian" woman on Geoff Lloyd's Home Time Show, she makes me want to throw things at the radio.

I might try and get that in the car then as, at the minute, it feels like the available stations swing between trying to be young and cool (R1) or coffin dodger friendly (numerous).

I do have to admit to liking a few of the R1 guys but it's nowhere near enough to outweigh the morning travesty...

I understand he is now replacing Louis Walsh as an X Factor judge on top of the other stuff he does.

Absolutely dreadful, self centred, arrogant, annoying turd of a man.

Why, why, why?

Never heard of him, but by the sound of him he should fit in well.

I had no idea who he was before I opened this thread.

I'm 31, if that's of any help/relevance.

I honestly thought this was about the bloke from The Apprentice who does Countdown. I think the last time I tuned my wireless into Radio 1 would have been early 90s when Mercury Rev did a Peel session

In all fairness, he's another one that seems to get everywhere for no discernible reason.

I think Cowell wants to make X Factor more relevant and bring it into the 21st Century and he sees Grimshaw, or 'Grimmy' to those in the know is his trump card.

The Radio 1 controllers are wise and brave, imo. The station can't be relevant to teens/20-somethings (its REMIT) if it also appeals to 30- and 40-somethings.

There's an interesting comparison to be made with magazines like NME and Q (which wouldn't let go of older readers, even though numbers were dwindling) - although mags had other problems too, of course.

He does the occasional TV as which is enough for me, pretentious gobshite.

To be fair to Zane his interviews are a bit cringeworthy, and he gets very sycophantic, but he was a top bloke when I met him.

In terms of Grimshaw I don't know if overrated is the correct term, as no one seems to rate him at all really.

Who are these people who rate him? Everyone I've spoken to thinks he's a massive TWUNT. Thankfully I haven't listened to Radio 1 for years so he doesn't really intrude on my life, I see they've got rid of that other IRRITATION Fearne Cotton.

Well put sir.
