12 minutes and you haven't had a thumbs up yet. I do hope you haven't upset him

And I do hope he's not sitting at his keyboard seething, knowing that logging on to give you a thumbs up will make him look even more ridiculous :lolol:

If you can just hold on 'til after Popmaster, I'll be right with you mate.

Anyone else here listen to Nicky Campbell interview KS this morning?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001bkf4

I thought he KS did well, pressured about not joining picket lines, his rationale makes complete sense. As did not falling into the trap when pressured by left wing callers into promising re-entry into the EU, nationalising all industries privatised in the past [imho it would be too easy to promise the earth at this moment as Tory governments come to the end of their 14 years life .... Labour riding high in the polls].

Starmer will need to balance the books when in office, give the bloke a chance.

Harry Wilson's tackle ... did you listen, what did you make of it?

Yes, mate. I posted a comment on the tory meltdown thread (I think).

He sounded to me like he always does: honourable, competent, honest and dull. My kind of politician.

Anyone hankering after the charisma of Johnson will give him a swerve. Anyone mainly wishing for a PM focused on doing the best for the country rather than their own cock may be more favourably disposed.

I have this warm feeling :) as I did voting for Des Turner in 1997. I really like the Labour Party when its in this non-ideological rant mode. I think Starmer's version could be good for most Brits. But no guarantees eg Putin is hellbent in ruining wider Europe.

Interesting that most callers seemed to be Corbynista's with various barbed comments/mini speeches, rather than genuine questions. Still sore :lolol:

Your final point, yes this is what I commented on this morning. Starmer had the good grace to not do what I would have done - mocked and sneered at the claims of his betrayal of great 'victory' that Corbyn delivered with his policies that are the 'most popular' in the history of working class struggle :lolol:

Liz seems to be getting all the love judging by the number of posts on her thread….with Sir Keir due to make a lectern thumping speech this coming week at the Labour Party Conference it’s only fair we give him more attention …looking forward to hearing more about his zero carbon by 2030 initiative …especially how much we will be nuclear reliant.
Who else apart from Angie will make an impact

Surely this should be on the main board

Is that......Comic sans?
That is the new level of irrationality that we have descended to sadly. There was another poster on here that recently started trying to promote Blair as the biggest bogeyman of all time too.

It's a desperation to shift the focus away from the last 12 years of snowballing diminishing standards in Tory government at any cost....The downslides of Brexit, the incompetence, the genuine corruption and sleaze of this government have to be distracted from in any way possible and this is the current end result. The hypocrisy is astounding but these peoples views somehow are allowed to go mostly unchallenged.

When a Prime Minister can use parliamentary privilege to lie about his actions, smear the leader of the Opposition as being to blame for not prosecuting Saville, be an overt racist and blame a government over 12 years past for current disasters this is where you end up.

Labour's former shadow chancellor has suggested leader Sir Keir Starmer was acting like a monarch in a rift over the party's policy on electoral reform.

John McDonnell is backing a proposed change to Labour's position on the UK's voting system.

At Labour's conference, he said policy decisions were taken democratically and "no-one is above that".

But Sir Keir has said electoral reform was not a priority under his leadership.

And which decisions were taken democratically when we ended up with Truss in charge and trashing the whole economy within days ? You keep scrabbling around over the minor / non issues [emoji106]

Electroal reform isn't a minor issues, first past the post is a disaster and directly led to the current shitshow. It should be championed by any credible leader of the opposition.

And that was the reason that you were whining all over the Liz Truss thread last night that you wanted this thread moved back out of the pit ? :lolol:

is it the most burning issue for the country though? Starmer thinks not. those in Labour proposing this not are doing so not out of principle. what happens when a replacement system doesnt lead to the intended outcome, campaign to change it again?

Is Sir Kier really credible?

Yes. I think he is credible. He's a thoughtful and measured man. He would run the country professionally and competently.

He's jumping through the millions of hoops any labour leader needs to jump through to get Labour elected right now, but once he's in, you'll see who he really is and what he really believes in
