I really don't expect too much from Jake this year.
Which is a real shame - cos I used to.

I was looking forward to him developing into something quite special, but I just don't see it happening with us.

Ironically, I think he would do a whole lot better at a higher level, where the referees would give him more protection.

Lets face it, put Owen in League One, and he wouldn't last 5 minutes - they'd kick the shit out out of him.

Michael Owen also knew how to time his dives. Perhaps Jake should learn to dive??

Good point, even Wardy was a little unsteady on his feet when it suited.

Short answer, yes he is. But he needs an experienced partner to help him along. Expect a lot of people to be eating their words on here once that happens.

To be honest from the start I have never seen anything from Jake that has made me think he is anything more than a decent bench warmer that may give defences a few problems in the last 5/10 mins!

Everybody wants him to be a hero and wanted him to develop into a goal scoring machine for the club...it hasnt happened and nearly four years on now and the whole young thing is wearing thin.

He's too light weight and overall doesnt look like a player that will make it, That was my opinion 4 years ago and it hasnt changed....

Fingers crossed that this season is the one where he steps up to the plate.....because it is a make or break season......

Shame...But if your not good enough...its :bigwave:

Owen would get kicked all over the show..but how many free-kicks and pens would he win?

Leon Knight had a far more quality in his right toe than Jake has all over.....When will albion fans face facts that mr golden boy is not good enough...if we had signed him from another club..we would have released him a couple of years back imho

I really want JR to make it. However, I remember reading or seeing something many years ago where someone said that the difference between most good players and great players is not necessarilly the ability, but more to do with the real desire to succeed.

Take Roy Keane; wasn't the most skilful player in the world, but his drive and determination to succeed at virtually any cost made him a great player in a great team.

I fear that Jake just doesn't want it enough. If he does, I think he has the talent to succeed, but he's got to really want it.

the trouble with robinson is simply that he is way too inconsistent - at times he can be brilliant and you feel you have a real real talent - such as in october/november this season, and when he came back from his loan spell at aldershot and broke into the squad at the end of 2004/2005 - burnley away being a prime example

unfortunately, he does it for about 10 games a season and then goes back to doing very little. if he wants to make the grade he needs to become a lot more consistent. if that doesnt happen this season it may be time to cut our loses
Agreed, spot on. There is clearly ability there.

My worry is that he doesn't cut it here, moves to some League Two or Conference side and that gives him a kick up the backside and he goes on to fulfill his obvious potential with someone else, not us.
