Up there with Drury as one of the worst commentators out there. Their inability to just call the action without filling space with either meaningless stats or hyperbolic hogwash makes me long for the more understated commentators of yesteryear.

I just want them to tell me who is on the ball cos with my eyes I am not always sure. I don’t want all the waffle about stats. That can wait til after the game. Another gripe is all the close up shots of players when the game is going on, also the endless shots of the manager, bench and the crowd. Moan over!

Like I said in another thread, counter-attack football suits him poorly. 188 cm and a haalandesque body shape... not made to make endless runs chasing loose long balls.

As for Ireland... they did rather well until that penalty. It is a midtable Championship team that prevented England from creating any hot chances in the first half. After the penalty/sendoff/goal is a different story.

Very difficult to influence the game when your team is constantly on the back foot and never has the ball for more than 20 seconds. If you're playing like that then you need a pacey more mobile striker, not an Evan.

For what it's worth Kane did nothing of note for 45 minutes either.
