Gus is pissed off at losing. We're pissed off at losing. He's emotional and speaks personally with a mic shoved in his face 5 minutes after we've choked in the biggest game we've played for many years - for which he probably feels responsible.

We were in League One in 2010. We've just got to the Play-offs for the Premier League in 2 years.

GOOGLE Hell, of course he should stay. It is a five-year plan form opening the Amex. We're not half way through.

I hear 5 year plan quoted as if it is a given that on 5 years we will be promoted to the prem. WE missed a fantastic opportunity this year, the division will be more competitive next year and Mr Bloom will have to spend more money, I see people on here quoting £15 - £20 million to make us more competitive. How do we do that with the new rules coming in, it is also no guarantee of success, if that were case Man City would be CHampions of the prem followed by Chelsea. Mr. Bloom is a businessman and we must work within a budget, if Gus can't operate within that budget, as with any other manager in industry has to, then he is on his way out. Maybe its that Gus has a different interpretation of the English Language and yes we should all ignore the comments made post match as the timing was totally inappropriate. So take a break Gus and then nail your colours to the mast Gus or walk the plank. If your players were as uncertain of your aims as the fans, then its no wonder it all went wrong on Tuesday.

I think he made some heat of the moment comments that perhaps didn't come out right, and that on reflection he'll regret. And he has a point. The current squad relies heavily on key players who may not be around next season. Will Hammond, Bridge and Upson join permanently? Will Bridcutt be sold? Will Spanish Dave put pen to paper? Will someone come in for Buckley? If you look at our squad without those names it doesn't look so good. So I think a lot hung on us making it this time, we won't have the money to rebuild the squad that we would have had if we'd gone up. He is asking absolutely the right questions, but at the wrong time.

Definitely not. A couple of seasons back when bottom of League one, any of the 30.000 at the Amex on Monday night would have thought hard to believe that in two years the Albion would be playing these play-offs with a good chance to make the final.
From my point of view, the Albion doesn't need to sign any more players for a long while. You've got the Coach, the team the supportters, all left to do to build a team Premiership team, that stays there, is start getting players up from the DS squad. I haven't looked at it lately but back in New Year the Brighton and Hove Albion DS squad had the best defensive record in the whole country, that is including United, Liverpool, Villa, etc, which have the best academies.
Always from my point of view, I've seen at Hove lawns, Preston Park, The Level, etc, more personal skills in terms of ability, than anywhere that I've been in Spain or that I've seen in the Spanish TV. And I've seen it in all ages, from kids to guys in their late 20s which means that is not a question of the times where kids get better at football but a question of, it must be, natural talent.
The technique, how to apply those personal skills on the pitch for the best of the team, only comes through experience.
This Barcelona, thes Spain national team's way of playing it was all designed by Johan Cruyff and Charles Rexarch in the early 90s when barsa won their first ever European Cup. Both of them re-designed the whole football schooling system of the club, ( in a way similar to what SAF did at United ), and the result was a great team that only this season played a game with ten players from their DS squad. It's my absolute conviction that a player who has grown up in the team is worth at least four new signings. They will give everything for the team and their City. They won't hesitate.
They Albion have had an impresive three seasons, and there's an excellent squad. All that it's needed to do is to let the young players learn from the great side you've got.
Iniesta on telly when he was starting with the first team alongside the Ronaldinhos etc, a team made of signings basically, where it was not easy to play comming from the development ranks, he seemed the unluckiest player ever. Every shot would end up on the post or out and you'd think "They are going to give him away loan or sell him".
If the Albion concentrate in their Academies, and keep the players, they'll have a proper, well established football team.
That's just my point of view.

I want Gus to stay but he needs to be careful, every time I issue the board an ultimatum on Football Manager it never ends well

I'm all for this point of view. I still think Gus has a job to do here and he's the man for us.

If he goes, we'll regret it and so will he. Everything is coming together. Stay.

My first post after Monday:thumbsup:
In my humble opinion Gus has enough money never to work again. This is all about his ego---he wants adulation from his peers which he already gets regularly - despite the fact almost every single one of them have been sacked as not being good enough---only for them to be a gods gift to some other club a few weeks later. He would be a complete mug to leave us now. We are all pissed off after Monday but I have three months off now. I'm already worried I might miss the first match next season cos of a family holiday!!!!!!!!
The Albion & the Amex will be here long after Poyet has gone----------------It's not always about you Gus-----be grateful you are in a job that most other managers could only dream of.
I hope he stays and gets a bit of humility with it.

No matter what happens he will never be viewed in the same way by a lot of the fans and possibly some of the players, these rumours are growing and whether true or not they will sow the seeds of doubt. I really cannot see how he can stay and maintain harmony.
I am greatful for the impact he has had, the players he has attracted and the footballing ethos but he has also made mistakes and I do not think he is quite as good as he thinks he is.

So thanks Gus but you have lost my respect now, so it's time to move on, it's about the club not one man.

Some of you peeps sure like talking out of your anuses. Where did we finish last season? Where did we finish this season? He has improved on each previous season since he came. If he goes, good luck to him. He has brought stylish football to Sussex, football that at times has been absolutely sublime. I, for one, will be sad to see him go. As to "apologising" to the fans, what planet are you on? Honestly, when I come on here and read a lot of the things you people come out with, I honestly believe you haven't got a scooby about football.:rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::annoyed:

You don't like that he is continually speculated with better jobs? Welcome to football - whatever division we're in, whenever we are doing well, our manager will ALWAYS be linked with better jobs & the same goes for practically every other club. Perhaps you would feel more content if we weren't doing so well...

You don't like he's honest about his future? Maybe you would prefer a manager like Coppell or Micky Adams who will abruptly jump ship at the first opportunity instead, rather than pushing for the club to meet his Premier League ambitions...

Gus is a genius. What he is doing is exactly right - He is pushing the club to give him realistic budgets to get promoted, and rightly warning that he will leave for a club who is as ambitious as he is if he doesn't get them.

If TB gives Gus a realistic budget for him to work with to get promoted - then Gus will stay, and we probably will do exactly that...[/QUOTE]

Goog post and makes rational sense Mustafa Kemal I agree, it's a pathetic piece by Walt Jabsco though.

I find it refreshing that a manager is being honest. Time and again you hear managers claiming devotion to their current club just a few weeks before leaving for a better paid job. I'd rather hear what he really thinks than a lot of bull about how wonderful it is to be here and how he'll never leave.
If he stays, great. he has been a stabalising influence on the whole club and improved the team beyond all recognition. We have the best team for 30 years. If he goes, good luck to him and thanks for giving us a bright future.
It would be a nice change if a manager was allowed to leave this club without masses of ungrateful backstabbers sniping at him!

I am certain Gus will leave in the Summer, his job is done here
And what a great job he has done for us, it is the perfect time to leave, leaving us in such a healthy position
Overall he is not emotionally attached to Brighton although I am sure his bond to us has magnified and will be more so in the future after he has left us
Gus wants to get to the top as quickly as possible,(this will not happen with Brighton) I really don't care that he touts himself about as some people put it, he doesn't owe us anything
He is the best manager we have had in my opinion and I believe he will continue to be a winner elsewhere higher up the ladder and be extremely successful as he was a player
What a load of tosh has been spouted on here about Poyet
I know nothing about the boardroom but I'm sure Mr Bloom has an excellent relationship with Poyet and nothing that Gus has said recently would be unexpected in Bloom's eyes
I love Poyet but won't lose any sleep if he leaves us, my only gripe this season was him not utilizing Forster-Caskey as I think he is the real deal and ready

This is an incredibly simple situation between Gus and the club

Gus + ambition + his expected budget V FFP and the clubs available budget to comply

We will learn in the coming weeks which one comes out on top or if we have 'reached the roof'

The sort of players he has managed to attract here is for me a huge reflection of the respect that professionals have for him and a sign of how highly he is rated.

I cannot think of many football managers that I would rather have than Gus. I was gutted after Monday night's result but I'd be on the edge of tears of Gus walked out on us

Go. You have been brilliant as a football manager with one glaring exception: you have shot your mouth off consistently and once too often. If you don't think our club is big enough, then you are wrong. In case you haven'y noticed we have reached the top flight in the past, and can do so again. If you want to leave then go. Tony Bloom is the best chairman you will EVER work for. The staff, team, and (yes, we are important) fans deserve someone who wants to be here. We need a manager who believes he can take us up, not one who questions everything about the club except his own ability. Your arrogance is astounding sometimes. Walk.
