[Albion] Is it the manager, or is it recruitment?

Surely has to be the manager, I mean you have a couple of 6ft strikers on the bench and you play two midgets against Sheffield Utd, We looked toothless until Welbeck and the Swiss lad came on. Before that Utd players had an easy afternoon.

Believe GP needs to pick his best 11 and then stick to it to give some continuity to the players so they can get used to the runs and mindsets of fellow players. Only change due to injuries
Recruitment need to back him and get that elusive striker. If that means offloading Ryan, Propper and maybe one of our current strikers then so be it, just give GP a fighting chance

Didn’t the Southampton survive arguably a worse spell and look where they are now ?
They have a manager/coach who understands the need to win games and goes out to win every one. I honestly have no idea what Potter's game plan is. Plus he tinkers way too much-every game. Drives me mad.

Although I can moan with the best of them after bad results (and there've been plenty), my gut feeling is that the club have let Potter down on player recruitment.

There's a nugget in there somewhere with Potter's tactics and strategy. Against Liverpool, ManU, Newcastle, CP and Villa, to name just a few games, we were exceptional. Similarly, against Norwich and Burnley in Restart.

Let's get down to brass tacks:

Some players have been shocking in their roles - Jahanbakhsh, Connolly and Maupay spring to mind. Radio Sussex today, not just WA, tore Jahanbakhsh apart, he was woeful. Their point was that he kept coming inside clogging Lallana's space, despite Potter screaming at him to stay out wide as planned. Connolly and Maupay's powder puff and mistimed efforts on goal are now beyond a joke.

Bloom needs to invest in January in at least one quality striker, even if it's a loan.

Act now to protect the £105m of annual EPL income.

[emoji106] This is where I’m at. Whatever you think of Potter, we’re going out there as a team against most sides and dominating possession, creating numerous chances.

This is something Hughton couldn’t do.

However we are not taking these chances. As we all know we have a very high stat of not taking goal scoring chances. Potter has tried Maupay, Connolly, AJ and Welbeck. They’ve all had chances in the team, and no one is excelling as a scorer. Probably Welbeck now.

There is only so much he can do with the players he has. We need to back him with signing a bona fide first team striker. Not a 2nd division turkey 18year, a first team ready forward.

I’d add to that, it’s not possession for possession’s sake .... e.g. the Poyet Amex team passing it around the back, whilst Millwall, Watford and many others got the cigars and recliners out, and relaxed.

A striker of Ings ability would be burying these gilt edged chances and half chances created.

It would be a virtuous circle, with single defensive errors at the other end NOT costing us.

My instinct is that TB, Ashworth and Winstanley recognise this and plan to give Potter the tools.

Imho not dealing with this in January, may well prove an extremely costly blunder. There are no EPL basket cases this season, even the Blades aren’t getting outplayed. We need to invest in a striker now to pull away from the danger.

On a positive, isn’t it fantastic that Sanchez looks the real deal.

Wasn't Sanchez formerly Lynch- Sanchez, and if so does he qualify for England?

Let’s cut to the chase.

Potter is going to be slaughtered here tonight. No question, and results wise, today it’s hard to argue.

But is Connolly really good enough?
Maupay? AJ (love him, but)..

Zequiri? Is he the answer.

Our problem is unquestionably taking our chances. We watch all the games. We all know this. The question is, is that the fault of recruitment or Potter?

You’ve changed your tune...yet dirty turncoat! I thought you were going down with the ship, like you do on Potter! :O

Sell the dross. Play the second half of the season with a smaller squad or name 3 or 4 u23's to make up the 25. I would even go as far as to take £50 mil plus offers for White if it meant significant improvement in the front line. What's the point of keeping Barnardo, AJ and co on the books ? plough all into a striker plus their wages, then and only then will we know genuinely how good or not Potter is as the back bone of the excuse to keep him will ether be reinforced or eradicated.

Sell White, Bissouma and Lamptey to Liverpool for £200m.

Buy a £50m CL striker, with £150m extending the WSU around the stadium.

Shouldn’t the coaches also take their fair share of the blame, do we have a specialist striker coach?
