Is Howard 'sap' Flight your MP?

What a plum. With weeks to go before the election, saying his party's economic plans were total fiction yesterday - and now he's been sacked by the constituency, and they've got to find someone else.

Life/career over in 24 hours. Any Arundel and South Down-ers got thoughts on this?

Not Arundel or South Downs but thoroughly enjoying Michael Howard's electioneering being found out for what it is-a load of typical tory bullshit.

It's f***ing great:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I'm Arundel & South Downs, good news that that utter WRISTER has gone. I was never gonna vote for him anyway, actually means for the first time in ages the Tories may not win the seat:clap2:

He used to be my MP, despite having moved around since leaving home I had a proxy vote in that seat, I only moved my vote to Gloucester last year after my parents left West Sussex for good.

Can't really comment on the man as I never voted for him nor considered paying attention to anything he might have had to say, although he has got my attention at the moment. The thing that hacked me off was that he wasn't a local man, I was always of the opinion that the seat should elect someone who understood local issues, I assume he was seen as a rising star and thus granted access to parliament via a safe seat.

Hopefully he will not do the decent thing for Michael Howard and stand down. If he stands as an independent Tory( ie irish brigand)
then he will split the irish brigand vote but unfortunately in this right wing seat it will not make any difference to the result.
The good news is that this incident has exposed Michael Howards ultra right wing economic flank and now a Labour victory in the forthcoming General Election is now certain.

It seems Flight has made a terrible misjudgement. What he has said is unacceptable, and Michael Howard is right to kick him out of the party.

However, I don't like the fact that his story was taped, then leaked. Who leaked it? Surely not a Conservative as that would be political suicide.

On a personal level I have had a private audience with Flight, I work close to his constituency office and have followed his fortunes over the years.

He is very much a creature of business, a man of the city, a Thatcherite to the core. He struck me as a nice guy, but he didn't really talk my politics although he had some good ideas.

He said the same as Redwood,

It's not rocket science, if the Tory's get in and they want to cut taxes, Public services HAVE to suffer!

The ironic thing here is that Arundel and Southdown is one of the Tories safest seats, you could put a monkey with a blue scarf up for election and it would get in, with Flight it looks like they did just that. It will be interesting to see how things go at the election, whether the other parties target the seat and whether the upper crust blue rinse brigade return another Thatcherite to Westminster.

At the end of the day, people will vote on the economy! That's what kept Thatch in during the 80s.

Over to you Mr Tank! :)

Kinhell, I really don't care, I hate them all, the back handers and double standards.

But on a more serious note, Blair and his Mrs just have to go:

1) No Falmer yet and
2) Complete and utter bullshit blarney on IRAQ. Killing people to satisfy his ego is just the sign of a mad man!!

:p
