I'm positive JC said it before the interviews and tweets had started, however, apologies if I've given false information.

No worries. these rumours tend to take flight.

The interview with CH starts at 23.50: All he says on GM was...
"we felt [Glenn Murray] would be fit for this game but that wasn't to be"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05cfhnr

the quote on Glenn from JC was
"that fan there was saying 6 weeks, Adrian [Sussex reporter] was hearing rumours of "2 months, we hope that isn't the case" (from about 13.10)

Harms had tweeted earlier that "Hear all sorts of rumours outside grounds most are nonsense hope the 'Glenn Murray out for 2 months' is in that category" confirming he hadn't been told it by a club source.
https://twitter.com/AdrianHarms/status/901441269314068480

"the fan" was caller Duncan who said (8.50)
"i've heard he's out for 6 weeks , which is a bit of a blow"

One source for the 6 week / "2 month" rumour i assume comes from (who refused to stand it up)
https://nortr3nixy.nimpr.uk/showthread.php?355528-Striker-Light&p=8089691&viewfull=1#post8089691

so presumably was repeating this tweet which came at the same time. This feller says "speaking to his brother in laws best mate on the train " !
"Out for 6 weeks. Ankle scan on Tuesday" (Don't you estimate the time out after the scan ?)
https://twitter.com/benny151/status/901423694031065088

Naylor confirmed he had wind of it before team line ups were announced tweeting
"suspect that double ankle knock will keep him out"
https://twitter.com/AndyNaylorArgus/status/901426563106918400

i'll stop now.

Brighton / Hove actually
BBC Sussex said yesterday that Murray was out for 6 weeks, Baldock wasn't due to begin training for at least a month.

Yes I heard that but I think it was a slip of the tongue because they were talking about Baldock and Murray at the same time and the six weeks sounded like it was attributed to Murray. I don't think it was and the six weeks/October remark I believe was when Baldock can start training.

I had to pause for thought myself.

Thanks, thought I was going mad.

Most other teams have backup strikers on the bench
It's JUST Chris making a POINT to Tony that we need to go SHOPPING!

Yes. If things went as they'd hoped which presumably they haven't. So they didn't know.

Or if you'd prefer because they're stringing us all along for some nefarious reasons I can't quite fathom.

I guess the former is more likely.

My guess is they don't give a toss what we think, and see no reason to justify anything, so choose to say as little as they want. Which is fine but, as a CUSTOMER, I find it a little annoying.

There is no stringing along.

Hughton doesn't "give a toss" - yep. Ok Icy.

About what we know of Baldock's injury? Nice attempt to twist what I said though  No I don't think he does give a toss whether we know the extent of the injury or not.

You said it. CH doesn't give a toss what fans or journalists know or think about Sam Baldock's injury. Ok . Fair enough.

I really hope he's concentrating on more important issues, like finding a striker before we sink without trace

Doesn't Winstanley come back from his Summer holiday soon?

I guess he'll still need a couple of days to get back in the groove and show everyone in the office his snaps.
After taking into account the bank holiday, I'm sure he'll be good to go in 4 or 5 days time.

He may be out for 2 months or not right now we don't know. One thing I will say is that making a fact like that public in the last few days of the window when we are desparate for 2 strikers would clearly gets agents and clubs rubbing their hands together. No surprise to me if that is kept secret until after the window.

What is all this fuss about a striker? As I understand it, our focus this year is on League survival. No club has ever been relegated having conceded zero goals. Spend the money on cheaper defenders, have a ten man back row. Problem solved
