[Albion] is Denis Undav the key to unlock the low block?

More or less what I was about to post. We need to convert more free kicks, penalties and corners. That, on its own, would have significantly improved our home record this season.

The notable difference in recent weeks has been the number of goals from midfield.

I actually think the key to turning dominant performances against lower sides into wins, is changing players like Lallana and maybe Bissouma if he goes for Mwepu, Caicedo and MacAllister who all look like they are more likely to contribute.

Moder looks like he has the attributes to score, but hasn't managed to get off mark. I fancy him to score when he's back fit again

I’ve not seen Undav play but can he score penalties and/or a good free kick from just outside the area? Those are two areas which need improvement. It means a low block side can’t resort to fouling.

If Gross is off we’ll also need someone who can take corners and hit an accurate cross from almost anywhere

'playing often'? ???

Well, yes

He asked if we needed a striker because "Our recent set up playing often without a recognised forward seems to be working well."

The RECENT and WORKING WELL means he can only be referring to the last 6 games, in which we've amassed 13 points (W4 D1 L1). Welbeck has featured up front in ALL 6 of them.

With Mwepu, Caicedo, Mac Allister and Moder to return next season our midfield is starting to look like it has goals in it. For so much of the last two or three seasons, while we've had a cacophony of cries for a new xx goals a season striker, it is true that our strike force was far from prolific - but the problem would have been far less of an issue and far less noticeable if midfield had contributed its fair share of goals.
Most of the time its contribution was zilch.

He could be , has he got any pace ?

Midfield as it stands now Caicedo and Mwepu are in with Biss is a match for anyone.

If Biss moves then we'll miss him and we'll probably have new problems to solve

I had it in my mind that his 23 appearances and four goals fell somewhat short of regular and effective striking. But perhaps I'm being unfair.

Mac Allister can do all of that, surely

On the evidence of Wolves, not exactly reliable on penalties. And I don’t think we’ve scored a direct free kick all season?

we haven't scored one since dunk vs liverpool in potter's first season. unless you count the one that lee mason's incompetency robbed us of last season

Which personally I do.

Dunky has scored our last 2 and should be taking the ones we get

Well, anyone can miss a penalty.

Nope, no direct free kicks. One of seven teams not to score a free kick.
