[Albion] Is De Zerbi shifting football’s tactics with possession tightrope at Brighton? (Jonathan Liew in The Guardian)

Italian is challenging established conventions with audacious play in his team’s danger zone that can turn high-pressing doctrine in on itself

“I was a pain in the ass as a footballer,” Roberto De Zerbi once said. And, in a way, he was a player hopelessly out of his time: a pure No 10 coming through at the turn of the century, just as they were disappearing from the game.

Well Jonathan, thank you for the praise but kindly f*** off. The media are noticing us too much and putting far too much pressure on the players, coach and upper management at this point.

A few losses and it’s “Brighton have been found out”.

Would be nice if the Guardian followed this up with a detailed exposé of how some teams play very negatively (especially away) to get a result: time wasting, feigning injury, in the ref's ear, etc. It's a valid approach, let's see it called out. The tactics of positive, progressive managers shouldn't be the only story.

Yep, we did in home and away under Hughton due to limitations.
