Is Burke the stumbling block?

Not sure it's him, but I think some managers, particularly the good one's who have confidence in their ability to pick players may find it somewhat tedious and frustrating to work with him.

Depends on what players they are after. Some managers easily attract players and would make the Burke job different.

I don't see what the huge rush to appoint someone is. They are interviewing candidates and no doubt negotiations will be on going. Do you buy the first house you look at or do you go and look whats on the market? Its not mid-season so there's no pressing urgency.

Not sure I agree with the no pressing urgency comment. We have huge holes in the squad, no goalkeepers or right backs etc and not many players will join not knowing who will manage them so I say it is very important it is sorted soon.

Not regarding Garcia. He left because we failed in the transfer market, but that was only down to the strict budget which is Blooms domain.

While top managers pass you by because of your structure Maybe a change in structure is what's needed along with a new manager.

Well if you can find someone to buy out Tony Bloom for the stadium and the training ground, then there might be a change of structure.
All the time TB is in control, then that is the road we are going to take.
I for one am qiute happy to trust him than some foreign millionaire like Tan that will just f**k the club up.

I would say needing nearly an entire new team makes it quite urgent to appoint a manager. Or is Burke just going to sign 8 players and say "there you go, there's your new team, work with that".

Even if we did appoint a manager today surely he would want to look at the squad first to see what players he wants/needs and is therefore unlikely to want to sign many players before he's seen a few training sessions at least. It doesn't take long to sign a player if all parties are in agreement, the stumbling block is agents trying to negotiate the best deal for player/club and good players will likely have several offers to consider so won't be in any rush to sign this soon after a season has finished

Of course he is the stumbling block, all Directors of Football are, it is a nothing job and it should be the managers job to manage the club within the limits of the budget signing what players he thinks are needed and as long as we can afford it then there is no need for BERK and his way of doing things.

Man U did quite well without a BERK doing player recruitment as do most successful clubs, look at Spurs and the way they do things to work out it doesn't work

WTF? I doubt either of them left because of that, and we certainly don't know that's why left. If it was the reason, TB would know, and would consider changing it. But I doubt it was the reason for either of them.

It won't take whoever gets the job long to look at the squad. There aren't that many left, especially as it appears there's a chance that Ulloa and Walton could be going!

That's nonsense. Oscar left because he wanted LESS involvement in player recruitment (and wanted us to spend money we don't have), and Poyet left because he wanted us to spend money we don't have. Neither comes down to Burke - it comes down to us not having unlimited funds

yes but he can't look at the squad whilst they are on holiday can he? i'm sure he could look at videos but its better to look at them in the flesh
