[Albion] Is beating Man United a big deal?

To what extent is beating Man United still a big deal?

  • Yes. It’s always an achievement to beat Man U wherever they are in the table.

Its "just" 3 points and Mancunian misery. As a sporting achievement its not very remarkable given that they're shit.

I'd say any win in this league is a big deal. An away victory is always an achievement.

United are still a basket case. And apart from nearly winning at Liverpool they've shown little sign of improving. But an away win at the team in 13th is always something of note.

They bring in one of the top five highest revenues in world football (probably four if you discount City's dubious numbers) - as long as they remain at that level of revenue and income, it will be a massive deal to win at Old Trafford.

6 years ago to the day at Old Trafford, my boy was the Brighton mascot. He optimistically for a 12 year old, predicted a 1-2 Brighton win. Was always a stretch, but looking at the team we had then and the team we have now, we are worlds apart.

Chatting before kick off and interesting the focus was on the win and league position, rather than who we were playing.

So in answer to the question, is it a big deal. A bit like Ajax. Yes, yes it is, because they are 'big clubs', but right now we are simply better 😁

I'm probably being facetious.

It doesn't really bother me too much, but apparently we didn't beat United, they just lost. But Everton are capable of beating Spuds?

Most of the time it's still a case of the opposition playing badly, not us playing well as the reason the game went the way it did, until that changes it will always be a big deal in the media.

In our first couple of seasons beating United home or away was a massive deal, now my expectations have changed and as has been proven we are capable of beating anyone in this league. Unless they're in the bottom 6 and we're playing at home.
