Is Barnes a dud or will he come good?

Hasnt quite lived up to the promise of last season just yet.

Granted its early days but from the 3 games ive seen this season he looks totally inept. On this form i would be gobsmacked if we got a return of 5-10 goals. Fair play to the lad hes clearly a tryer and he will chase down every ball. This was evident on a number of occasions today so i cant fault his committment or attitude.

Clearly needs a goal and one hopes that this will lead to him re-discovering his form from the tail end of last season.

Whats everyone elses take on this?

I think he has lost confidence and desperately needs a goal... was kicking himself in the warm up where the mid/strikers have shooting practice, whereas when any of the others missed they laughed, he seemed to really take it personally...

I have been saying all summer that people have been going over the top about barnes,a lot of my plymouth mates said they would have driven ashley to brighton he had a good spell on loan but was always gonna struggle to maintain anything like those standards.
my best mate summed him up when i asked him what he thought off barnes he said he will work his socks off but never looks like scoring.
Im not knocking him i think he will be a valuble member off the squad but he aint the star people were making him out to be

Here we go, we lose narrowly thanks in no small part to some dodgy referee and the NSC 'experts' have written off another young player.

This is my major worry.
We have people saying " they are hoping that Barnes and Holroyd come good "
i.e we are going into an important campaign with two unproven strikers.
You knew where you stood with someone like Forster ( 15-20 gls guaranteed )
We all know we are at least 20 goals light of a play-off place.

Forster has been a sub since joining Brentford.
