I agree with the O one, it bugs me when people in myoffice who don't have any interest in football during the regular season start harping on and on about wayne rooney as if they know all about it.

When asked who they support? They usually respond that they don't follow football now they say I support England.

I call that 'the banned phrase', because it's self evidently untrue. The World Cup will directly affect the nation's economy as people bunk off work to watch it and/or spend money in bars and pubs if we go well, it'll affect the mood of the whole country if we have a good (or particularly bad) tournament and it's helped Sky changed the face of broadcast entertainment in this country, as they couldn't have expanded without the profits made partly off the back of it.

That and of course the fact that so many people get genuinely worked up about it. It really, really fucks me off when people try to console me after a big game's been lost, with those words. The one thing they could say which actually makes it f***ing worse!

Neither of them even close, lads. In the event we lose a big game (a World Cup quarter, for example) the telly's off, or I'm out of the pub, directly the final whistle goes - I never watch all that bollocks afterwards, so I never hear them.

Nah, home for me. 42 inch plasma, sound through my arcam & B&W systemendless alcohol, no need to queue for a cab home, loads of mates round, and out with the decks once the game is over! :clap2:

That very line was the start of the end for my last relationship. We were playing Greece and needed to equal what the germans did to qualify.

Beckham was playing like a spare part and I was truely pissed off. Cue my then misses

"Well it is only a game, after all."

If it had not been for Beckham scoring that free-kick I think I would now be inside for manslaughter.

........that come out whenever a world cup or Euro is on?? I am. Girlss who normally hate football cloggin up the pubs and tut tutting whenever you scream and swear randomly at the TV, stupid england flags flying from every people carrier, every TV advert pay some homage to the game, every billboard has the face of a footballer, normally someone fat and pointless (anyone seen the new Ronaldo ad? like that granite pillar woulod every hold his blubber), idiots who normally watch rugger blithering on and on stupidly about who should play where and way Erikson has got it wrong, like you would f***ing know you chinless prick. I could go on and on.

Its turned into a sanitised corporate feeding frenzy. I wish they would all f*** off but unless it all kicks off in Germany I reckon it will just get worse. I am almost wishing that the English Dutch and Germans fans riot good and proper so I can have my game back.

I love it. The more the merrier if you ask me.

Bring on the car flags, painted faces, girls wearing England shirts, crap songs and world cup mug promotions. I love the lot. It only happens every 4 years (or 16 if in Scotland), stop being miserable old gits.

I agree for once this shit country gets together
