Taking an instant rematch against Ruiz could prove an even bigger mistake than taking him as the stand in to Miller in the first place. AJ needs to build his confidence and do some serious readjustment work in the gym. Hearn maybe jumping up and down desperate to get his cash cow back but can see Rob McCracken trying to steer the ship another direction because unlike the smarmy car salesman he actually cares about his fighter.

AJ aside I'm loving where this leaves Hearn. Beyond AJ the only real grade A fighter he's got left is Callum Smith and he's now upset ALOT of people in the game. Old fish eyes Frank Warren must be loving this.

What’s Callum Smith done?

Fury is an awesome boxer who’s thrown it all away on booze, drugs, getting fat, hating gays.

Really? Can you show us some evidence where he's said he hate gays?

Looks like Tyson Fury's your new scapegoat figure to project all your pathetic negativity onto.

Do you remember when you used to constantly state I was anti semitic for my views on Zionism for years on end? This 'Fury's a homophobe' you're constantly banging on about seems to be your new thing now. Once Fury retires, It'll be interesting to see who your next person will be to relentlessly accuse of discriminative views and how long you will persist for. I'm guessing at least 4 years for your next target.

And anyway, how comes you're not bothered about Joshua's racist tweet about black people being the superior race? Because you're a hateful dick more than a man of morals maybe?

Joshua= Fake persona, crap boxer

Fury= Real persona, quality boxer.

Ruiz clearly was carrying extra weight into this fight, he has a version of dad bod.

So question to all of those who know about boxing.

Does this matter a huge amount?

And - What if he came back for the rematch with that extra weight gone and just pure muscle like Joshua.

Would he be x times better?

All things being equal, it was the Persoon/Taylor fight that we should have been talking about. I've not seen much women's boxing but that was a proper scrap. And Persoon was robbed blind by the cheating judges who somehow gave it to Taylor when even the BBC had the Belgian winning 8 rounds to 2.

That was a great fight. Was completely floored by the judges decision

That was daylight robbery. Great fight but everyone had Persoon not just winning the fight but dominating it. It's clear the judges were asked to point in favour of the matchroom boxers.
Just as disgraceful, the judges only had Ruiz up by one round once he'd knocked Joshua down for the 4th time and stopped the fight. Sooner or later, the way it's going, we're going to see a win given to someone who got KO'd.

Are you joking? He got completely outboxed, this is why I've always maintained Fury would beat Joshua if they were to fight. Joshua's bodybuilder physique doesn't account for the fact that his boxing technique isn't anything special when he's fighting the best heavyweights in the world.

was like watching big frank all over again ......the post fight suck up was cringeworthy....6 thousand travelling fans mugged off again , if joshua doesn't atone for that performance immediately he is just about finished as world title fighter.....Ruiz says he'll take the fight next week , i doubt joshua will be so keen .....done up like a kipper.

He conflated homosexuality and paedophilia, knowing full well the world hates paedophiles. He said the devil would come home when homosexuality was legalised. That well known liberal hotbed The Mail called him out :facepalm:

You’re missing the point though. One of the reasons AJ had the career he did is because Fury pissed away his title. Are you going to defend the PEDs? The coke? 28 stone? Literally walking away from a title? If Fury had stayed fit after his first title win he’d be the British Heavyweight everyone talked about for the right reasons. There’s no doubt he’s the better fighter, everyone can see that.

No doubt its a big blow for Hearn but thats a very UK centric view of things. Under the DAZN deal matchroom have a bunch of current world champions including Oleksandr Usyk who is undisputed cruiserweight champion and considered one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world.

Lennox Lewis was one of the great Heavyweights who fought the best around and beat them. AJ is a long, long way from that level. If AJ had beat Fury and Wilder and lost to Ruiz your point would be valid.

That Rahman was a super lucky punch though. Ruiz systematically gave AJ a proper beat down over 6 rounds that ultimately led to AJ more or less quitting by refusing to hold his gloves up in front of the ref. All his flaws have been magnified and exposed. Its going to be a very tough road back and that is if he even really has the heart. A rematch is far from the formality that the Lewis scenario was and could well be the complete end of AJs career.

Its easy to look back now but all of Lewis's career defining fights against the likes of Tyson and Holyfield happened after he lost to McCall, who then refused the rematch and left Lewis having to rebuild. Lewis's planned super fight with Bowe was cancelled and at the time he seemed to be left out in the cold.

Who knows how things will work out for Joshua but I could see all of the current heavyweights losing at some point, Wilder has a wild style and will eventually be caught with a heavy enough shot while throwing bombs to put him asleep and Fury's seems to need the big fights to really be up for it, he has put in some shocking performances and I remember him nearly losing to Steve Cunningham a few years back.

Joshua clearly needs to make some changes and may need to go back to the drawing board for a bit like Lewis did.

He has had such a meteoric rise it may even help by taking the pressure off a bit.
