Gonna do Film and Media production. I have a film theory degree but the only way I will get the technical knowledge I need is by stuying it and haven't got the time at work.

Will also afford me the chance to do more work placements in the industry and access to equipment to make my own films.

Isn't it possible to get a job somewhere at the bottom of the ladder and get some real hands on experience and be earning while you are really learning.

Good point.

Mrs Wildy Ears did a similar degree in her late 20's. She's just come back from Korea where two of her films were shown in an international festival, next month she's off to Bordeaux to do the same and in a few monthe she's off to JAPAN

She is, is she?;)

Not at all, Les.

I remember reading about a mechanic who was fed up with his job and decided to do Medicine. He was 25 at the time and was fully qualified before he was 32.

I have considered doing another degree as well, but would probably opt for the OU (Although it seems expensive).

Live the dream, Leslie. Live the dream.

Thats nothing, when I worked at the Royal Sussex there was a junior Doctor who was about 50 and used to smoke roll ups.

Turns out he was a fisherman from Orkney, or some place like that, who was put through med school by the islanders because they had difficulty in getting a Doctor to work there and they had to go to the mainland for any medical help.

He was a good bloke as it goes, not the usual public school pillock.

You have to go from production to production, no job security, get treated like shit, hardly any money. Tried it for a while and its shit.

I keep thinking about going to Uni to study Stage Management, although it's a difficult industry to get into, and the hours are shit, and money isn't great! However, it is something I thoroughly enjoy.

Bristol Old Vic do a two year Stage Management course Woodchip. They're very well respected in the industry. Although the hours can be long, it can be good money and generally a great atmoshere to work in.( Plus lots of pretty dancing girls.)

Come on in.... the waters lovely. (Unless of course you're Paul Nicholas who was such a c*** during Singing in the Rain that we all would take turns pissing in the fx water tank. Prompting the great finale number was renamed Singing in the Piss.

Definitely aware of the pretty dancing ladies, having crewed for Copacabana at the Hawth a few years ago. Thong bikinis galore.

And the tasty ones that wonder around backstage in just their bras. I'm surprised more straight blokes don't get into acting!!

Go for it Les, think not of it as £20,000 of new debt just after you have turned 30, but more of it as my pension.

xx
