Makes a change from that f***ing rainbow flag!

I rather like that pink Union Jack number which is often seen at Pride.

There's a lot of anger, lack of historical knowledge and blindly turning on minorities in this thread. How very British/English/Norman/Anglo -Saxon

to suggest we are the only country / race to do the above is a bit narrow minded within itself........having said that i tend to agree with you,and im guilty myself i have to admit.

I don't really think we exist as a country or race along with many other large countries, and i don't think that's a bad thing at all

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
Very fair point but on the other hand a lot of us can remember the Brighton (or was it Hove) resident who got into trouble with the council for merely hanging a Cross of ST George out of his home's window.

I love these stories. No accompanying evidence or a reason given for not allowing a flag to be flown. You couldn't make it up or could you?

it appears that self hate features quite highly on the list of national characteristics too.

tell me why is that not a bad thing?

Why is it a good thing?
What is good about regarding anyone who happens to share the same abstract copncept of birthplace with you as being somehow like you and better than other people?
What does it do apart from create tension and conflict?

It always makes me smile when the PC crowd go on about the Union flag and The cross of St George being associated with the far right. No mention of the Irish Tricolour being associated with the IRA

Indeed. And why are we flying the flag of which by definition is a foreign country?

Hi Mary

We certainly will be, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Bad weather means we are unable to access the flagpole so let's hope it's a sunny day.

Take care

Jeannette

what about the other saints days?

this is all arse about face. Brighton is in England. What the f*** does it have to do with Ireland in the first place. Even if St Patricks Day is a public holiday in NI, the tricolour is not the flag of that part of the UK.

Its just the council being full of bell ends who think its a good idea and a bit of fun. I dont give a f*** if they fly the st georges cross or not, I just think its pathetic and childish to fly the flag of the f***ing republic of ireland just because Guinness have sold everyone some bullshit marketing. Truly terrifying.
