Just what does the world do? Even yesterday so called experts, were saying a tactical strike (and make of that what you want) with U/N or some form of collective backing was not only a good idea but also a strong possibility. However appaulling the idea might be,does the rest of the world sit back and allow Iran to get The Bomb? I like many have little doubt the CURRENT regime, would use it.:albion:

I was shocked that they would attack the nuclear plants, as they have no evidence that this is going to be used for warfare. But then of course, it didn't stop them before.

How do Iran feel, being told by the US and others to cease prduction when America relies heavily on nuclear production.

Worthing
It's all down to how safe you feel with a fundamentalist Islamic country facing off against a fundamentalist Christian country and both with nukes. I don't know about you but suddenly the world is becoming a much less safe place - and I wouldn't be planning a holiday in Tel-Aviv.

Why would the current regime use it ? They are more likley to want it for defensive reasons, IMO. That said at the moment we are talking about capability rather than actual possession.

India used to be a 'rogue' regime, they accquired nukes much to the disgust of the West.
Yet time passes and earlier this year they signed a co-operation agreement with America.
Nukes get you respect in world politics, and I think Iran want them to balance out the situation in the middle east. Israel has nuclear capability and has attacked Iran before.
The whole rationale for the cold war arms race was "mutually assured destruction".... we needed nukes cos the Russians had them, they wouldn't use them cos they knew we would use them.
Iran is doing the same thing with an aggressive near-neighbour.

America is just pissed off that one of their big defence corporations hasn't got the contract to supply the nuclear components!

The guy has not helped his cause by denying the Holocaust and saying he wants to wipe Israel from the planet and develop nuclear weapons.

I think I'll go with Bush and the USA if its all the same to you.

So, you are in favour of a potential nuclear war leading to possible further terrorism and instability because the President of Iran has some unpleasant opinions ?

oops!
It was Iraq that Israel bombed (in 1981, when Saddam was close to nuclear enrichment).
Still, it shows a willingness and a capability that Iran might feel it would need to defend itself against?

And STOP SHOUTING!

How can Iran use them defensivly? It does not have the missile capability to hit the USA and bairly has the missile cape to hit israel.

The Iran issue was delegated to The EU to solve by Bush, what have they acheived?

I am saddened ther appears so many in a state of denial about the global situation.

If the US beleives there is any chance of Iran smuggling nukes to terrorists its bye bye Iran. The US isn't going to sit araound to wait and see if it going to be nuked, and neither should we for that matter.

Since when has israel been the aggressor? Its always acted in defence or pre-emptivley on accurate intelligence.

Got to agree with you looney. Some sort of assault on Iran is likely in the near future.

If I had to chose I would be behind the government of the largest democratic country in the world than a dictator of a very unstable power who wants to destroy Israel and all Jews and develop a nuclear programme.

If the US deploy nuclear cruise missiles to take out the Iranian nuclear testing facilities who is ultimately responsible for the radiation fallout ?

Surely the point is that if you launch a strike now, you would not have to worry too much about fall out as they have only just started a low grade enrichment programme. Conventional weapons would also be fine. The added benefit would be that the weapons, oops sorry, civilian energy production faccilities would be off limits for quite some time. Presumably most of their scientists and engineers could also be neutralized at the same time.

This might be preferable than the Iranians having an accident themselves and causing untold damage further afield. Either option is far better than them developing their own weapons though.
