I don't understand how he got away with quite so many blatant pushes. They weren't even one-handed brush-off's or anything like that - straight two-handed pushes, often in the back. We got a free-kick for one, and he got a yellow for another - and that was it.

Yet their fans are calling us for cheating and time wasting 😂

Georginio Rutter: "It was important for the team to win today. Because it's been a difficult period during Christmas. We are happy and it's good for our confidence."

On his winning goal: "The manager didn't say too much. He just asked us to play football and put on the intensity when we came on. That's what I tried to do and I scored. So it's very good. I was a bit scared because of the VAR check. I am very happy and thanks to the team and the fans."

"I think for a player to come into a new team is hard. You have to be patient. I am lucky to play a lot and the manager gives me the confidence."

On the upcoming game against Manchester United: "We always try to do the best. We have to work hard in training as well. We are ready for Manchester United now."

Massive result that. Very Difficult game away against a side finding form.
Lost that and Manure next, seasons gone.
One of the best Albion performances this season IMO. 100% commitment for 90 mins.
Great individual performances, and teamwork. Away support brilliant. Safe journey home everyone. UTA
You Sir, know your sh*t. After reading so many negative comments in the first half, I was beginning to get a little annoyed. Your post cheered me up no end - well, obviously the result itself helped, too!

I thought we played well, but reading this thread I can see that actually, we were shit.
Yeah I didn’t come on here tonight and am surprised if that is the general feeling.

I thought we were good and that was our most comfortable 3 points of the season. I felt like we were in control throughout and just needed to to move up a gear to get a goal which we did and then it was very easy after we scored.

Thoroughly professional performance, I thought we actually schooled them.

It's the same on NSC and everywhere really. I'm not sure about the time wasting. Delap wasn't helping himself, but it's clear there were some dark arts going on to try and gently push him towards a red. 'But if we had those players we would love them' is a very sensible summary.

..all bar that last 20 of the first half imho.

I had this nailed on for a draw but travelled with a hunch we might exceed our usual return against the basement teams. We had a bright first 10 mins but then floundered for the rest of the half, Ipswich had two great chances to score on counter and Bart who owed us a good performance was back to his Newcastle away top form. So was not a happy bunny at half time and then we started second half pretty disjointed too, banging it longer on Fab’s orders. But the goal changed everything and it was a lovely goal.

The warning signs for Ipswich surviving in this league is that they collapsed like a pancake from that point - and looked a poor team with questionable fight. Was only a question of how much we won by if we kept to a certain decent level of play and we did - the subs revved things up nicely.

Am not sure Fab got the starting line up right but it came good and as we know that’s all that matters. Confident in my Southampton away tickets 🤣 but we do need to up it against better teams

The frustration was understandable in the first half - I was feeling it too. But always thought FH had a plan re managing their low block and 2nd half being key to that
