A lot of Poles round here (Southampton area) but 25% is a MASSIVE exaggeration. Maybe 8-9%?

Southampton FC have overtly courted the Polish Pound over the years. They advertise the games in posters in Polish, and print Polish version of the program. Of course signing Polish players is a big part of it, too. Bartosz Biakowski (sp) didn't really work out (he's just left), but in the past Kamil Kosowski and Marek Saganowski were very popular.

You're right about the percentage of Poles in Southampton - it's around 9%
(Wikipedia says so, so it has to be true). As far as I can remember Grzegorz
Rasiak also played for the Saints a couple of years ago.

Yep Rasiak too.

He and Kosowski were in the same side. Possibly even Saganowski too - really helped spur local Polish interest in the club.

English football in general is very popular in Poland now, which is hardly
surprising considering the fact that our top division's (Ekstraklasa) level
is something between Championship and League 1 (with the possible
exception of Legia, Lech and Wisła). Besides, English language is much
more popular in Poland now than it was 15-20 years ago, so people are
able to read the news about their favourite clubs, join the fora etc.
Not to mention the 1 million Poles (and I don't think I'm exaggerating
this time) who emmigrated to the UK and are sporting their brand new
ManUtd and Liverpool jerseys every time they come to Poland for
holiday :)

Hopefully some of them will be choosing Brighton tops, before long.

Poyet is pronounced "poshette" or "poyshette".

Guy welcome to the forum. Your contributions have already added something!

Regards the English language gaining popularity in Poland, if you are anything to go by the standard is pretty high!

Regards the amusing Palace buffoon: very funny.

Regards Ipswich: the fans belittling us are just a bit ignorant aren't they? They are in for a shock these coming years.

Calm down mate you wanna take your meds before posting in future me thinks! If you weren't so thick you'd realise Croydon is not our only catchment area, it's only one of many boroughs surrounding Selhurst Park.

IF only you caught anything with your catchment area.

He's worried about how we look to other clubs when we start threads about what other clubs think of us, innit.

He is saying that our pointless bickering is making us look tinpot. To illustrate the point he is pointlessly bickering about it.

It really is very clever. A bit like something Stuart Lee would do.

Brighton fans in hissy fit over Ipswich fans thinking we are a smaller club than them

Oh look we are! Until we actually achieve our potential for a sustained amount of time we will be seen as exactly what we are, a team with potential.
