alright?

My hard disk broke and I've just replaced it am am going through re-installing what I need to. I've happened upon a stumbling block whereby I can't work out how to transer the content of my ipod (all my cd's I downloaded onto it) back into my new itunes library on my pc.

A quick search suggests it isn't possible without some sort of non-apple software. If this is the case, can anybody point me in the direction of a good download.

I can't face going through that whole TEDIOUS process again...

cheers

Surely all your music must still be on the ipod? If that is the case then you can transfer from the ipod to itunes I think. Sure it tells you how to do this under support on the Apple site.

no you can't just take things off your ipod and put it back onto the computer i'm afraid. its designed so that you can't do that - an anti-piracy thing i would imagine.

you're right though - there are some bits of software out there which will enable you to do it. i wouldn't know which one to go for though sorry

You can't copy back from iPod to iTunes, it's a digital rights issue that Apple adopted right at the start, to prevent people simply offloading thier collection onto friends PCs, without them needing to buy the music.

Anapod does a peice of software that allows you to do this, but surely you already have all your music on your PC, so just put the new HDD in the iPod and hit "synchronise" in iTunes, leave it an hour or so and hey presto, all your music on your new HDD.
