Ipod advice

I'm thinking about a new music player and I'm torn between the Ipod Touch and the Ipod classic. The Classic has loads of space but the touch has lots of features.

Anyone got either/both and care to comment ?

(Oh, I don't want an iphone - too expensive)

Personally i have the 8gb touch. It all depends on what you want from it, for me i can have enough songs and games ect on the touch with the 8gb, and obviously it has much better features. But if you have tonnes of music and arent bothered about downloading apps then the classic is better. I would definately recommend a Ipod touch though.

Just bought my Wife an 8gb Touch ... It's brilliant. Can't wait for my 5th Gen 30gb Classic to die so I can justify buying one for myself ...

I have a 160gb Classic - which was my first iPod - and it's absolutely fine and has all my music on it - roughly 500 albums I think. However, it is a little bulky so I've just bought an 8gb nano too, just to use when I go running as it weighs virtually nothing.

the touch has the added features of being able to go on the internet (with WiFi) and of course download apps from the iTunes app store.

If that floats your boat then go for the iPod touch!

I had one of the classic iPods and, although I was aware of the Touch, I didn't think I wanted one as all I used my iPod for was music.

However, I wanted to use Nike+ for running and was going to get a Nano for that, until I discovered that the 2nd generation Touches came with built in Nike+, which was the excuse I needed to upgrade, and I got one in 32gb flavour.

Still to this day, I marvel over what an incredible piece of technology it is. Sure I use it for music still but it's everything else - the apps, and particularly the games, the lovely Twitter and Facebook apps, the nice way it deals with email and the web. On the morning the day after I got it, I lay in bed watching iPlayer stuff streamed straight to it.

The screen is a delight and I've never used another touchscreen interface that works so well.

If you're thinking of buying - wait a few days - there's a big Apple show this week and although a new iPhone is widely expected, there could be reciprocal updates to the Touch - maybe there'll be a new 64gb version for example.

Bozza ... Would you recommend Nike+? Do you have to have the relevant pair of Nike trainers (for the Sensor)? I use the Sports Tracker app on my Nokia N95 but it's a little bulky dragging that around ... Would much prefer to just take an iPod when I run ...

Yeah - it's very good. You don't need the Nike+ compatible shoes - just the sensor and something like this...

Ordered myself a 16GB Touch a couple of days ago.

I have about 4-5GB worth of music, so getting the 120GB classic was of no interest to me. Heard good things about the touch, but wanted a bit more memory than the cheapest 8GB version. £195 for the 16GB on Amazon (done through Bozza's link of course), which is pretty good considering I paid £120 or so for my 4GB Ipod mini :shudder: 4 years ago.

depends on how much music you have really, would you fill a classic? If not the touch is your best bet unless you have far too much music for it
