Nope until just now the only ways i knew how to do it were either to download a hack or pay to create a ringtone on itunes. Those guys at apple never miss a trick to make money.

Go to You tube and type in "Iphone ringtones". There are several clips that talk you through how to create your own ringtones. A bit fiddley but possible.

Get a nokia n96, and you can buy I-phones pay as you go on ebay

I've got the N95 (my first proper phone, I've always made do with any old rubbish before)

I'm more than happy with it - I can browse the net, watch films on the way to work and most important to me I've got all my college notes on it so I read through them as well.

Screen isn't the biggest - but I don't want to carry something around the size of an iphone or make a call on it.

Not particular interested in the camera, because I've got a much much better one, but I was impressed by the video camera.

They still haven't allowed you to send MMS messages or record video and the camera is still shit which puts me right off. Apart form that everything else looks pukka. My N95 8Gb does everything the iPhone does plus all the things I mention so until they fix those issues I'll be sticking with my current phone.

Said it before n say it again, iPhone does all that and so much more. Am typing this in an iPhone now, got copy n paste now, the beauty of the iPhone is it's customisability. And by far the best Internet browser in a phone. And an iPod.
