That's what they did for me. But they didn't have any screens in stock, so they just gave me a new phone!

The don't replace the screen, never have. They replace the phone. If you shatter the back they will replace is whilst you wait for £20.

Fantastic point, that should have been top of the 'outright w/giffgaff' benefits.
I've been lucky enough to only need to use the Geniuses on a couple of occasions and of all the customer service I've encountered around the world, the Apple staff are top by many miles.
Good shout :)

Is the giffgaff bit specifically relevant as I'm looking to buy the new 5 but use it with my much cheaper virgin sim?

This can't be right. £40 for a brand new iPhone?................

£129. It might not be brand new but it will look it and behave like it.

I suspect they take your old one off to some mass repair shop, refurb it to new and then it becomes a £129 swap out for someone else later.

People at work dropped theirs down the toilet, completely trashing it, and Apple swapped those out too.

I took my 3gs into the apple store in Churchill square as the back has a 1" hairline crack in it, (phone works fine just cosmetic) and was told they could not replace the back cover, i would have to buy a new phone!
should i go back and speak to someone else?

Cheaper than £10 per month incl. unlimited data?!?

Yes, i get 400 mins, more than enough for me u/l & txt and data at £6.34 per month.
I was paying £8.50 for 600 mins and u/l & txt and data and they phoned me say as i wasn't using the 600 mins they could reduce it to £6.34, but had to tie in for a 12 months.

Virgin = The cheapest unlimited data pack available to the everyday public is 12 quid on a 12 month contract. You may get it cheaper being a longterm/loyal customer but to the everyday PAYG customer, Giffgaff will not be beaten.

Virgin Mobile:
Mobile SIM Only £12 p/m
Your tariff gives you:
150 minutes
Unlimited texts
Unlimited Mobile Web

There is almost certainly going to be a gap of a week or two between the announcement and the release.

True but once the masses see the unveiling and launch dates are confirmed, my iPhone 4 value could possibly drop from 200 quid to 160 within those 2 weeks.
