Hi chaps

Should be a quicky, can anyone recommend somewhere good and affordable either online or local to get this done?

Cheapest I've found is ismash who want £50. Live in seaford and quoted £74.99 and £69.99 at the two shops here

Just seeing if there is anything obvious I've missed.

It's my mums ipad so id rather not try it myself just in case!

Mate of mine did if for £10 but I gave him £20 as I knew how much a “specialist” would charge me

Yeah its tricky. Mum doesn't have a lot of money and I work in theatre (or used to) so not flush with cash.

It's not always the battery. Sometimes it is a software issue. Worth checking through a few things before you just change the battery out.

I've used iSmash for a couple of screen replacements. Always had good service and value.

My 8 year old IPad Air started rapidly losing charge about a year ago, eventually it stopped turning on but sometimes it would spring into life for a while with the battery showing 100%, so not just the battery going wrong. I took the plunge last month and bought an 8th generation iPad and fortunately my old one kicked into life long enough to do a data transfer to my new one.
I know this doesn’t answer your battery question but just saying that it might only be a temporary solution for you.

I've just had the battery replaced in my iphone SE for £30. Not the same thing clearly but it came out in the same year as the ipad you mentioned so perhaps costs are similar ???

Anyway this was at 'Fone World' on george street, hove. I know it's a bit out the way as you said you live in Seaford but may be worth calling them to see what they will do it for :)

This may or may not help but our iPad was dead with the charger plugged in, it displays the battery symbol with a red line at the bottom but will not boot no matter how long it’s plugged in. After a quick google I stumbled across a ridiculous video that suggested flipping the iPad over and blowing a hairdryer over the back... yeah I know.

It only worked!! Apparently it jump starts the battery! May help someone some day!

May sound stupid - have you tried Apple store - got my last battery on my iPhone changed 3-4 years ago for £45, at least you know it is reputable and will be a genuine apple part. They showed me the diagnostics on phone battery life - mine was well capute - I think once you’ve had 600+ charges (so 2 years use) it’s on a rapid downward slope
