Kamari Doyle came on as a sub after 60 mins for the England U-20 side (Elite League Squad) as the Three Lions beat Germany 4-0 at Chesterfield.

Brajan Gruda starts for the German U21s. Kick off 4pm, streamed live on the DFB YouTube account.

Do you think there was a certain sense of destiny about a lad named Jonas U R Big ending up in goal?

was he hurt or just out of favor? My impression was that Minteh wasn't finishing well so Fabian was trying some other folks at RW
He has been injured for several weeks - latest update last week was that he hoped to be fit for the Bmth game.

Some awful kind of an medical emergency going on with, I think, the Hungary bench: some poor soul on the ground before getting treatment. Looked very bad.

Notwithstanding his early mistake, JPVH had a good game — certainly didn’t look any less steady than VVD in my opinion. And while he had much of the night off, Bart made several decent saves.

No howlers from Wieffer, who helped the Dutch stay in control in the game’s closing stages and had an attempt off target.

JPvH certainly looked very confident and comfortable during the bits of the game I caught.

Do we know if he’s now getting in ahead of De Ligt and De Vrij etc based purely on form or are they carrying injuries?

I think the Spurs defender, Van De Ven??, is injured
Ah yes, he was the one I was forgetting - guessing he would ordinarily be above him in the pecking order.

Either way, van Hecke looks to be staking a decent claim for plenty more starts in the future based on the bits I’ve seen.

Glad I finally can move on from being bitter towards the Dutch national side for ditching Veltman almost immediately after he joined us (despite going on to excel at PL level). Chuck Wieffer in with Bart who’s already a mainstay and that’s the defensive core of their team, all Albion!

During the last international break JPvH relieved De Ligt and was miles better. He likely earned his spot.
