There is no way after sacking Adams that the board is going to allow anyone like Stevens or any other untried manager run the team. Surely after this disaster, A decent name is priority.

I still think Ince is a real possibility, lets face it he went to a team like Blackburn 2 seasons too early, but you can't blame him for trying. The Albion may well be the kick start he needs. Yes, if he did get the job and make a success he would leave, but what the hell, don't all the good ones leave us? Unless you are Man U, then no one's manager sticks around for long anymore, regardless of what division you play in.

What I find is rather bizarre is that they let him spend over £200k in January then didnt give him time to see if it worked unless the new man is going to be Jim Gannon, who sold a player to a club he knew he would soon be managing plus we bought Davies who had been on loan to Stockport and Gannon.

That's just typical of the crap way the club is currently run. Wilkins was allowed to work through the 'Retain or Let Go' list in the summer and was then sacked. (It was even more bizarre if the decision to sack him was indeed taken in January.)

My 'snouts' tell me that Ernest is not too far from the truth but that the Forster and Stevens thing is a smoke screen to take the emphasis away from Jim Gannon. I was also told that my assumption on another thread that he knew about this and that was the reason McNulty and Davies changed their minds and signed for us near the end of the deadline is very close to the mark. So we shall just have to wait and see. I believe that he is either out of contract or on a very short term one like month to month at Stockport and they have tried to get him to commit to them, but he has refused and wants to keep on talking, so perhaps compensation will not come into the reckoning.

Was it not Harty who made the first assertion about Stevens? Perhaps he knows more than he lets on to and is helping to divert attention away from a genuine contender.

Interesting, I used to work with one of Jim gannons part-time scouts who lives in Horsham ....... I seem to remember him saying that Gannon likes it down here. Personally i think he would be an excellent choice though he does bleed Stockport County ...
