That's one small World Cup qualifiers.

I remember having a conversation with a Pole and saying about them not being a country until 1922. They didn't seem to be aware.

To be fair, there had been a Polish country at various stages before that, so while he might just have been ignorant, I imagine they just don't think of it that way.

I suspect I've mentioned before, that when I was at university I had a chat with a French PhD student (as in he was French and studying for a PhD, he wasn't studying French) who was totally unaware that Algeria was part of France for decades until the 1960s. It's amazing how uninformed genuinely intelligent people can be about their own country's history.

Sussex is ours and always be…it totally boils my piss that this map has split our fair county and given the West of Sussex to that bunch of thugs.

Would imagine Spursy aren't too impressed either

My Dad was given a lovely 19th Century map of Europe, just as the deadline approached for finishing the cover of a glossy travel brochure for the Côte d'Azur and Nice in particular. Boom, the perfect cover. It was only after 10,000 full colour brochures had been printed, boxed and distributed to Travel Agents across Britain that he noticed - Nice was still in Italy on the map.
