Good to read. A real Albion hero. I have a little dream that we can tempt him back to the Amex to do some sort of event with Vicente, Bruno, Gus, etc. I may get off my **** and try to organise something!

Of course, a similar type of article about Mark Lawrenson would leave some NSCers foaming at the mouth about why he doesn't mention his time at Brighton & Hove Albion....

If you do, let me know, I can get in touch with him.

Thanks for posting this, its interesting to hear what Michael is up these days. He used to appear on Sky's coverage of La Liga occasionally but haven't seen much of him lately.

Robinson is one of my all time favourite Albion players, he had huge energy, always put in a shift and scored some important goals. He seemed a thoroughly decent and articulate chap too. IMHO doesn't always get the credit he deserves. I recall him as a youngster getting tagged with a huge transfer fee when he went to Man C but unlike some he lived up to his promise and had an illustrious career with us and at Liverpool. He will be etched in my memories for that pass to Gordon Smith in the Cup Final when he might have had a shot himself.

With such a strong Spanish influence to our current squad it would be particularly apt for Michael to appear at the Amex very soon. I'm sure he would get a great reception.

I also have fond memories of his time with us, but of late I have read 3 or 4 interviews where he is very dismissive of Britain and British football. Now I am not blind to the deficiencies of our nation and the standards in our national team but it never sits well when it gets thrown in our face so publicly.

Yes, especially as Leicester-born Michael Robinson (Eire) very much fitted the role and style of a classic British centre-forward himself.

and? Don't a lot of us talk about the deficiencies of British football? I'd say he's in a pretty good position to give an opinion. When I've read his views on the game over here I always find myself in agreement with him. And definitely on his views about punditry!
