Forster: Give Slade more time From The Argus)

He must feel that there is a possibility that RS could be going. Thing that really worries me is the "large percentage of squad" buying what he is doing. So who is not? Are they playing, cause if they are it sounds like he is losing some of the players? Will Bloom listen to our top scorer and most senior pro?

What do we think, I personally think Slade should be going today.

I was just going to post the same thing.

Forster should UNDERSTAND that he is playing shit, we are going to go down and he needs to sort his act out.

Were the highlights of the Oldham game biased? From what I saw of the play on the BBC website, we created more openings and it was just a lapse at the back that saw us go one nil down and then unable to recover. We looked quite inventive?

Can we not draft in some help or get Steve Brown to assist with the first team?

Too much damage already done to give him more time in my oppinion, lovely bloke but the camel has had that one straw too many and is lying crippled in the centre circle.
And as for Foz time to give him one of the two coaching positions that should be coming up and maybe he can teach his colleagues how to put the ball in the net.

Pork pie land.
What a load of old tosh! As if any player would be shouting "sack the Manager!".

He must know full well that when the Club move forward, his role will be more and more marginalised. It was supposed to have happened already (which is why Virgo was made matchday Captain or whatever his title is), but the rest are performing so badly that we actually need him more than ever.

Seem's odd that he's come out and said it, if nothing was going on.

Also the Abdullui (whatever his name is) has gone back to Germany, and nothing about Roberts, so perhaps he's staying?

How do you know that Abdullui has gone back? Perhaps who is staying? Slade? I would say the lack of strories this morning from the argus (apart from Foster backing the gaffer which seems like something could be going on) and the general silence could mean things are happening RE: RS. I hope!

Fair enough, you weren't there, but f*** NO! We were hurrendousfor pretty much the entire game, and out of all of our 10 odd seasons at Withdean, i have never left a game early. This time, I watched the last 10 minutes on the touchline and, for me, that's unheard of. I'm dreading next Saturday, but looking forward to it too. Strange.

Remember he is only answering questions that were made to him by the Argus. So if the question is "So Nicky, is Russell Slade under pressure of the sack.........." Then of course that influences his answer. I doubt if Nicky knows more than you or I.

However, what is revealing is the bit about "most players buying in to what the manager wants". I wonder who they are and that initself doesn't bode well.

Personally, I think Slade should be given time. Till Xmas. Maybe we are one player short? A centre half (someone like Butters in his prime with us) that knows the art of defending and can direct his defence. A good solid stopper that Elphick or Virgo can look to. I would also strip Virgo of the captaincy and give it to Dicker.

these sorts of comments always amuse me - he is not exaclty going to come out and say "slade doenst have a f***ing clue, get rid now". that would be career SUICIDE all the time slade remains at the club

It's in the last paragraph of th forster article.

I was interested by the 'large percentage' quote, too. I imagine it's the typical "he's not playing me, so I don't like him" stuff that we get too often from underperforming players who refuse to accept they're not doing the job well enough to warrant a place.

Yeah but he could also have kept quite. The fact is the players obviously realise the gaffer could (hopefully is) on his way out, but yes of course he will defend if asked directly. Also when was he asked? This morning?

would imagine the players that are not included in the 'large percentage' are the ones not playing. The Livermores and McLeods etc

Interesting that given your name is "Forster's Armband", leading me to assume Forster is a player and man that you admire, that you skirt around the fact that he is backing the manager and asking for more time to twist his interview against what he intended.

I think Fozzie should be a major part of our coaching set up but I think it is odd that this article has been put up if there is nothing going on our the players are not worried about RS's future.

I think the biggest problem Slade has is that he wants us to play a certain style of football but the players he has are better than that. If you are capable of winning the ball, holding it, passing it or running at and past people I imagine that is what you want to do - in other words play to your strengths and to the best of your ability. If however you are discouraged from doing that in order play a certain way then maybe you wouldn't be behind those ideas.
