I get it constantly. It's especially bad in this weather.

I keep telling myself, "If I can't sleep, then I don't need to sleep."

Until it gets to about 2pm when I REALLY need to sleep and I'm not able to!

Bring on the Siesta time.

They say people who have problems sleeping shouldn't use the net directly before going to bed as it acts as a mental stimulant and stops the brain winding down. Get down to Seaford Library and get some pre-bedtime books instead Bakesy. I hear Doug Deep's autobiography is just in.

What a CLASSIC! :

Yeah I only smoke weed when I need to
And I need to get some rest where's the sex
I confess I burned a hole in the mattress
yes yes it was me I plead guilty
And at the count of three I pull back the duvet
Make my way to the refrigerator
One dry potata inside, no lie
Not even bread, jam
When the light above my head went BAM (bam bam)
I can't sleep, something's all over me greasy
Insomnia please release me and let me dream about
Makin' mad love on the heath
Tearin' off tights with my teeth
But there's no relief, I'm wide awake
In my kitchen, it's black and I'm lonely
Oh if I could only get some sleep
Creaky noises make my skin creep
I need to get some sleep
I can't get no sleep........

or...

Reading magazines and counting sheep to pass the time away
Hoping that tomorrow's gonna bring a smile BACK home again
Images of palm tree's swaying in the wind on South beach
Takes me back to better days, Summer days the everglades in June
My brain, my poor brain
My brain, my poor brain
I'm drinking myself to sleep again, Nightnurse pills to keep me sane
Drinking myself to sleep again, Insomnia
Flying high in golden skies, I'm flicking channels in my mind
Finding my utopia a different chapter in a book
Thinking back to younger days as I escape in Cooper's Break
It takes me back to 84 the future's knocking at my door
My brain, my poor brain
My brain, my poor brain
I'm drinking myself to sleep again, Nightnurse pills to keep me sane
Drinking myself to sleep again, Insomnia I'm drinking myself to sleep again, Nightnurse pills to keep me sane
Drinking myself to sleep again, Insomnia
Turning off a switch inside me, Leaving all the stress behind me
Flying over streams and houses, Passing over the Wye valley
It takes me back to 84 the future's knocking at my door
My brain, my poor brain
I'm drinking myself to sleep again, Nightnurse pills to keep me sane
Drinking myself to sleep again, Insomnia I'm drinking myself to sleep again, Nightnurse pills to keep me sane

I had insomnia for years and tried lots of stuff, over the counter and prescription. I would rather be up all night than take Ambien. It didn't put me to sleep so much as make me unconcious for a few hours. I still woke up feeling like I hadn't slept. If I took it for more than one night I would start feeling depressed as well. It's better to treat the cause of the insomnia (usually depression or anviety) than the insomnia.

Go and have a good sleep.
You'll feel much better afterwards

I have a good cure, and its natural. It's called arnica. Best in solution form, put a few drips in a hot bath then have a luxurious bather and goSTRAIGHT to bed. It's a soporofic, works like a charm. A firm called weleda market it.

It's so good that I would not suggest anybody doing an activity which requires attention e.g. driving afterwards.

I've got an even easier, user friendly and more cost effective solution.

Ejaculation.

Just don't do that at the same time as Danny-Boy's suggestion.
You may drown.

I always get a good night's sleep now since I've been on mirtazapine for a few months. It's a wonder drug and has made such a positive difference for me.
