I do love the fact that we seem to be the only team to have an extended break and come back with fewer players available than before the break - I'm sure it is tiresome for RdZ but really saps the enthusiasm for games like tomorrow knowing that our midfield will have the pace of a sleepy sloth.

An answer to his drop in form maybe.

My opinion. It's only an opinion

I don't think Evan ever properly recovered from that Fabinho challenge. He played on manfully that season, but Chelsea smashed him out of the game a few weeks after he got back.

I think it's common knowledge among PL teams that Evan is struggling for fitness. Defenders have been properly going through the back of him all season, knowing he can be forced out of the game.

It's best for all concerned that the lad can get his feet up from now and watch a few euro matches this summer. Let's get him properly fit and fired up for pre season.

How soon is now?

That made me laugh out loud.
Such a shame that the season appears to be ending with a bit of a whimper. But better that the players are not risked, get a good pre-season and we start next season with a fully fit and raring squad(plus any possible additions)

Not just our midfield. I've no idea who has the pace to keep up with Doku.

It appears that we are playing the rest of the season with a safety first stance regarding injuries.
Get everyone fit for 2024/25, bring in another midfielder and winger ( Nicolas Gonzalez) and off we go next season with a strong squad.
Tbh this season is fizzling out. Don't think there's any way now we'll reach the probable 7th place required for Europe, so we may as well adopt this approach. Onwards and upwards.

Not sure on what Mitoma's recovery entails, but in this article today, Naylor said one of the reasons the pre-season tour to Japan hasn't been confirmed is because they are trying to establish whether Mitoma will be ready in July.

But we are unlucky apparently !

I assume the club have decided to give up on this season and taking players carrying injuries out of the equation.
Or has t been confirmed Pervis and Fergie picked up injuries in training?

Hopefully Barco will be given a run out.

Or

An alternative conspiracy view - we've stopped playing all our best players, claiming they are injured, so no clubs will be interested in buying them over the summer.

A high end transfer fee for Brighton would be £40m KDH’s asking price was deemed to steep at £40m

Not to mention the part about revisiting players we've already tried for in the past .... And then mentioning Bryan Gil 😭

Sounds like Fergie has had a problem since Newcastle - given how he’s struggled not a surprise to hear that. Hope the op does the job. Pervis has done calf muscle according to the press conference so usual 4-6 weeks for that (even a G1 or G2) ends his season.

Just because we wouldn't pay that for one player doesn't mean we wouldn't pay it for another. We will have limits for each individual target where they no longer become value for money, depending on what we think the potential of the player is, their age etc.

I doubt we'd have got KDH for £40m in January, Leicester didn't want to sell him and risk their promotion challenge. His price may be different this summer, especially if they still need to raise funds to meet FFP.

We'll know early enough given they need to raise their shortfall by the end of June.
