If it’s still as good as it used to be Bar Valentino.

That would be my call or Potting Parlour. Burnt Orange is another choice. Cocktail bar in My Hotel in Jubilee Sq is well thought of but I’ve not been to that one.

Brighton factually.....
I tried a Snakebite once, also a Black & Tan once (apparently a B&T is an offensive term in parts of Ireland?). Can't say I particularly enjoyed either.
Other than that, the nearest I come to a cocktail is a Rusty Nail - so I'm out of this conversation.

(Shakes head, wonders why people get so excited about cocktails, mutter, mutter, grump grump :wrong: )

Ah, Snakebite & Black……

Up until the age 45 this was my go to drink, sometimes with a dash of absinthe….

Then I discovered White Russians…..

Golden Pineapple and Plotting Parlour both good- will do any of the classics if you ask for them but their in house recipes are worth a try.

There's a new cocktail bar opening at Shelter Hall called Skylark. Not open until the 18th November though.

I've always enjoyed the espresso martinis at MyHotel (though it can get full of knobs - the bar, not my cocktail) and a Hotel du Vin as mentioned above is pretty reliable too. The Cocktail Shack attached to The Set on Regency Sq used to be good too, though sadly closed now I think.

In no particular order:

Plotting Parlour
Black Dove
Burnt Orange
The Bronze

In fact you could do a nice cocktail crawl starting at The Plotting Parlour, then up St James Street to the Black Dove and finishing up at The Bronze

Not old skool - but there is a '0 waste' cocktail place down Preston Street - GungHo that is meant to be very good
