We were searched three times, and it was all very friendly. And the pretty 20 year old security girl had a lovely smile!
We had our ticket scanned once, and showed our ID twice.
We saw nobody asked to remove their shoes! WTF were you wearing!?
Walked briskly onto the first wave of buses and were in our accommodation by 10.20pm. As well organised as you could hope for really.
We were kept in for just 35 minutes after the final whistle. Again - you could scarcely hope for better.

I think you must have somehow rubbed them all up the wrong way!
I had my shoes searched (retro Gola classics)
We also got on the first bus out of dodge - "We're the first bus, we're the first bus, we're the first bus Brighton boys".

Seems quite odd they can’t be trusted with alcohol but can be trusted getting the train.

I’d be amazed if there aren’t some issues in town on Thursday. It’s the first European team coming to town that we have any ‘beef’ with.

The bus being removed is a bit bizarre (yes there’s a cost) but it’s win/win. It generally keeps the trouble makers in one place and offers a simple passage to the stadium for the decent Roma fans that don’t know where they’re going while facing a language barrier
Yes definitely don’t want to see people punished for the actions of a few dickheads in Rome. I’m probably putting my transport planner hat on and being more concerned on that, I think everything will be fine, and I’ll be on the train myself. It just seems strange to add more fans to the mix at the station.

No ticket pick up so no reason for Roma fans to go to K&Q, unless they want to.

Their modus operandi is cowardly attacks with belts on scarfers, away from the police. Anywhere in the city.
True unfortunately. Whilst Ajax and Marseille have a nasty element they won't really go for people wearing colours. Maybe the odd incident but by and large it's frowned upon. Ajax got the pissed ripped out them for "attacking" regular fans in the train queue for example. Roma don't seem to care about that too much. I doubt anything will happen however. They can't get away with it over here.

I'm not sure I'm happy with this arrangement. Out of 4 sets of fans Roma is the only one there has been any trouble with. The trouble has been splashed all over the news here and in Italy & we have reported them to UEFA for other stuff. I don't think they're going to be the happiest bunch of fans. :(
I worried about the Marseille match & they were being bussed in. When they're saying they're being kept in for 30 mins after the match is that going to include the time for clapping off the team? I usually like to have an after match beer as well so I'm going to scrub that.
I completely understand the 'treat people as you want to be treated yourself' but I really don't think now is the time to let a couple of thousand (I don't know how many tickets they've been allocated) Roma fans merrily make their way to the stadium and back however they like. It's not right that I'm already thinking of a different path to usual. I don't even contemplate taking a different path when Palace come to town.
Any chance it's an error in translation? This is so wrong and our club don't usually get things 'this' wrong. Bearing in mind it's an 8pm KO, Southern are shite & the queues are going to be massive at Falmer anyway, why is the club even considering that this is a good idea???

I hope they get searched 5 times - as we did
I hope they get ID'd and their tickets checked 3 times - as we did
I hope they have to take their shoes off - as we did (I hope it's pissing down)
I hope there are not enough busses to take them into town - like with us.
I hope they're kept behind for at least an hour

Of course none of that will happen, they'll be welcomed with open arms and let off flares and fireworks.
Shoes off... seriously? What were they looking for?

That did cross my mind.

Wtf is Balkham contributing to these decisions?.. he knows the experience of our fans in Rome, he knows the potential for rogue groups of ticket less Italians on top of those with tickets, domestic and those flying in from all points south for a jolly.....

Roma fans, be aware that you can do anything you like in the UK without fear our authorities and police will take action. They are paralysed by incompetence and the fear of being labelled as discriminatory. Use this to your full advantage. No one will intervene. They’re also totally overrun and demoralised and a bit ‘soft’ by your standards eg no guns, and if you were ever shot by a special arms unit it would be that officers fault not yours and they can expect a lengthy sentence.

You will however be observed by video. Expect this rather than actual intervention. Even so, be aware all footage taken is never actually used, especially if you dress in obligatory black clothing including a mask. You’ll never be identified and so nothing will ever come of it, despite threats of dawn raids and arrests days after using such (useless therefore) ‘evidence’. It’ll never happen. CCTV is much overrated. No one keeps it and it’s always too grainy. Much like used cat litter.

So bring your flares, smoke bombs, stand on seats, chant facist and homophobic songs; fly your inflammatory banners and obviously stab away as you do. All will be tolerated (although you should expect a few tuts). Our public order and safety authorities will be far too busy focused on the threat of smuggled bottle tops and inconveniencing home fans in general to bother with your more confrontational anti social antics. Instead you should receive priority transport (if you don’t, just shove way to front, no one will do anything) Finally, do remember if arriving early and doing some shopping in town pre match, you are not expected to pay in the UK. Just take what you like, no one will stop you as they can’t and also the authorities don’t exist to come and arrest you. If you are ever stopped, claim assault and sue the proprietor. Again, our legal system will find in your favour. You are not expected equally to pay for your defence. That’s on us too.

Enjoy your trip and don’t forget, what’s ours is most definitely yours, aka take the piss and help yourselves! Ciao Bella!

Realistically, unless someone leaves before 83 minutes, they’ll still be in the train queue at Falmer thirty minutes after the final whistle.

It could be fun both pre and post match at Brighton station with this arrangement in place.

The only sensible thing on these arrangements is that held back after the game, at least for Euro games means the South Stand exits will remain closed for the period that the hold back lasts for, so none of the Palace issues of having to go clockwise to the coach park and park and ride buses from the West stand.

I just hope that before they are allowed out, that the coach park has been cleared and that all (or at least virtually all) of the park and ride and train queues have gone.

The authorities will definitely react if you fly a "Pope is a Pedo" banner..... allegedly.
