There are a lot of Man U supporters that don't live in Manchester, ( bet you didn't know that ) so they don't automatically go to every game.
I got a cousin who is a season ticket holder both at the Amex and Liverpool so cant go to both games when playing the same day and know of several people who have duel ST,Brighton/ Fulham Brighton/Reading etc.

Even our own ST holders who travel cant make all game for various reason, in fact there was a thread on here yesterday saying due to work commitments he has only been able to get to a few matches and even my dad has two seats but to my knowledge only ever used one this year.
Also you have family's that will have 3,4 or 5 together but rarely they will all go at the same time.
This is why you will never get a completely full stadium.

From your 1st paragraph, sounds like there are a lot of affluent people about. The only one I ever knew about was tha ******* Greg Stanley.

From you 2nd paragraph, sounds like there are a lot of empty seats. Does'nt your Dad know that there are hundreds of Albion fans desperate for a ticket. I would call that selfish.

Then why don't they buy one? Very few sell outs this season, and on the are occasions we did the ticket exchange made more tickets available.

My father knows a lot about Brighton fans, he is the longest serving employee at the club.
The club has a lot of very affluent people supporting them.

There has been spare capacity for every home game this season, including Arsenal. there is no shortage of seats for anyone who want one on a game to game basis.

Didn't I read somewhere that ALL premiership clubs under that leagues rules have to report attendances as per tickets/STs sold, again for marketing purposes. This does make good financial sense. Funny how things change, in the good old days clubs would underreport to not pay tax on what were mainly cash sales, now marketing revenue is so important the opposite is true.

Many people of here have put forward the view that any Club that has played in the Prem and been relegated , have to continue to adopt the Prem policy of recording attendances as tickets sold rather than actual people in the ground. However, this cannot be the case as Leicester only recorded 8,585 for their snow hit home match against Middlesbrough this season (unless they only have 8k season ticket holders ! - they average over 20k for home games)

I met your dad before the amex was open. He showed me inside the ground (the south end) several months before the season started. What a gent and what a kind chap!

We only changed the way of announcing attendances cos other clubs were doing it and boasting unfairly high attendances. Palace and Arsenal 2 of the culprits

as taxable income is based on revenue from tickets sold there is a more than valid argument for declaring tbat figure

This.

Arsenal appear the worst.

During the many low morale times post Fabregas and Nasri, there have clearly been swathes of empty red seats throughout entire games, yet, wait a minute 60,200 are announced as having ATTENDED.

Helps allay the egos of Wenger and Gazaridis, that there are no dissenters or disaffected.

Now, other clubs are following the little lie.

Missed the point, I refer to those waiting to purchase a season ticket,

If you read the original post, he was refering to his dad having 2 season tickets, but only using one.
Of course it is possible to obtain a one off match day ticket. You try buying a S T. Different story.Hence my post.

This has literally nothing to do with it. Financial figures are reported in pounds sterling, not the number of bums on seats.

They have 14k STH, however, I guess for that game alone they saw the sense to declare the turnstile figure or at worst they really would have been a laughing stock, at best their low declaration made for good media attention due to the snow.

The club were hawking 5 game mini season tickets all around Christmas, and I think before and after, would none of those sufficed? At least you would have got Palace and the last league match.

how are the police counting? i ask because i cant understand the motivation for the clubs to over report. and i dont accept the reason that thousands of people are buying expensive tickets to then not turn up (or sell on). 10000 people every game flush to buy a ticket and not go? doesnt sound right does it.
