A good reason for listening to some more Bearsuit on a Sunday Morning. This is probably their finest moment

A fine band, probably technically a Sussex band, I would say. I have loads of silly 7" singles by Bearsuit, packed full of pamphlets, badges, etc. One even wrapped in bandages. There would be a fantastic "best of" compilation.

Good live too. Saw them at The Freebut about twelve years ago before the refit. I have their albums on CD but no vinyl. Shame they are no more.

A propos of nothing, one for Tinycowboy. Just because I was listening to it this morning on the way to work and had forgotten how good it was, especially when that oboe comes in...

A fine choice Staly - fairly insubstantial on a first listen, but there's a subtle momentum to this song. Always liked the photo on the cover too - little bit more exotic than usual? I always imagined it was South America, but, knowing Hood, is it actually the Pennines?

Never heard that or them before, but that is wonderful. Where can I find out more and what should I try next by them? Seeing as it's 18 years old (can 1997 REALLY be 18 years ago? Shite!), I'm guessing they are no more?

Actually, YouTube now seems to automatically choose the next video for you, and it's playing through the whole of the Slient '88 album and I can see they were released on Slumberland and are from Leeds. Whic is a mighty effing coincidence as I actually came here to post the brand new video from Finnmark! who are ace and also come from Leeds...

I don't know if Hood are still going. I think they are, but I'm not sure. My favourite songs by them are I've Forgotten How To Live and (The) Weight, but all of their albums are very nice, transforming from more noisy to bucolic ambience over time. They've released tons of singles. i've got most of them, but I've got a horrible feeling I sold Lee Faust's Million Piece Orchestra about 2 years ago. Why would I do that? Must have needed the cash. All £2.50 I probably got for it.

I put this on last year's NSC Easter CD, but got told it was "boring":

Evening all.... just thought I'd mention that The Fireworks album is finally available for streaming via this link.

Out on Tuesday with a free gig at the Rough Trade East shop (just off Brick Lane in that London) on Thursday at 7pm.

Sorry about the self promotion but I think it's come out really well, one of the best things I've ever been involved with... honest!

Sounding great - I added it to the Albums Thread 2015 thread in the early hours of this morning.
Do I need to have a wristband for the RT gig, or can I (well, we) just wander in?

I'm not sure to be honest. I've been telling friends, but don't think they have wristbands. I have been presuming you can wander in. It's certainly free... if I hear anything about the wristbands I will let you know!

Thanks Shaun - will give this a spin. Enjoyed the last two singles.

Oddbox Weekender 2015 looking pretty tasty with a typically varied mix;

Also, this is on Film 4 in the early hours tonight - set yer recorders;

Hellfire. This film is on my Lovefilm list, but I could do with some riot grrrl right now. Still, Film 4 seem to repeat everything all the time, hopefully this will come around soon. More likely it will be the exception to their rule. This compilation's pretty consistent: https://m.soundcloud.com/thelesigh/sets/the-le-sigh-vol-ii
