I was in that room at the same time! Don't remember your heckle though.

Bowlie's the last time I saw them too. I can do without the catholic boy slightly paedophile lesbian obsessed perv lyrics too. Having said that B&S are one of the few bands my wife and I have in common, so I do tend to (have t0) listen to them quite a lot.

You can also quite clearly delineate indiepop bands into pre and post B&S sounds I think. That slightly Lou Reed strolling shuffle that lots of bands picked up after B&S. Your mates Pocketbooks being a prime example for instance.

I'd left by this point - had work the next day and lived in London at the time. My wife almost pushed Stuart Braithwaite to the floor. The swimming pool was empty early in the mornings. The food was not so good.

I had a bit of a stand off with the singer out of Arab Strap, who was trying to move in on the girl I went with.

Although actually that might have been at the Sonic Youth one the year after.

Boring By Sea
Hmmmm, looking at the number of Christmas songs we’ve already got, I’m not sure that voting is going to be possible due to timings and logistics and all of us being busy at work (other than Staly who is clearly busy, but not necessarily with work! Lucky bugger.)

Look at this list of top-notch, boss tuneage; it’s only December 2nd! I’ve not even managed to listen to them all yet…

The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping
St Etienne - I Was Born on Christmas Day
Wedding Present - Holly Jolly Hollywood
The Bird and The Bee - Carol of the Bells
Bearsuit - What You've Never Seen Snow Before?
Jacobites - Teenage Christmas
Eux Autres - Teenage Christmas
Eux Autres - Another Christmas at Home
April March and Los Cincos - April March and Los Cincos (+1)
Fireflies - Xmas Song (+1)
The Fall - No Christmas for John Quays
Shonen Knife - Space Christmas (+1)
Yo La Tengo - It's Christmas Time (+1)
The Headcoatees - Santa Claus (+1)
Galaxie 500 - Listen, The Snow if falling
Bellend Sebastian - 12 Days of Christmas
Paisley & Charlie - All I Want For Christmas… (+1)
Wedding Present - Step Into Christmas
Nixon - Anorak Christmas
Bill Botting - Mulled Wine (+1)
HMHB - All I Want For Christmas is a Dukla Prague Away Kit
Orchids - Mister Scrooge
The School - Let Me Be The Fairy On Your Christmas Tree
Sally Shapiro - Anorak Christmas (+1)
The Middle Ones - Christmas, Baby (Please Come Home) (+1)
Low - Just Like Christmas *
Tender Trap - Leaving Christmas Day
Yours Sincerely, The Pizza Club' - Holiday Armadillo
Brighter - Laurel
Allo Darlin' - ??? (Can't see the title at work)

* Already seconded
(+1) = I second these ones… just in case we do end up having a vote.

Whether we vote or not, it’s a great list with plenty more to come

What a list! I would love to stick em all on a cd, copy it several hundred times and deposit it amongst the seasonal music sections of Sainsburys, tesco, Asda etc ready for unsuspecting individuals to be musically educated. Seriously though I second What You've Never Seen Snow before and would like to add to the list this- which I think I posted on the 'covers' thread. Think it would make a great opening track

I'm just about to have a MASSIVE argument about which is better, 'Say Hello, Wave Goodbye' or 'Club Country'
